Hacking Difference between cios v6 (wanin) and cios (wiigator)

can somebody tell me what the difference is between waninkokos cios v6 and the cios which have been release together with the homebrew loader by wiigator? both are working with the loader v3 but they are not the same. for example they have a different file size and a different date. but what's the difference in behavior and code?

i think they both use the new dip module but apply different patches to the ios they are based on. but it would be interesting to know what those patches are.

I suspect that they may be identical in functionality, the difference being in how they install.

EDIT: actually, does wanins cIOS give better compatibility for the 0.3 loader? if so then would you have to uninstall wiigators v6 to get wanins on?

Waninkoko's uses the exact same DIP plugin as WiiGator's does.
So backup loading is exactly the same.

It also applies IOS patches like the older ones do.
They ARE different.

And they are both based on the same IOS.
WiiGator's IOS uses the unpacked files of IOS36.
Waninkoko's IOS uses the packed files of IOS36.

WiiGator's probably doesn't have some of the patches, as shown by trying to run Channel Loader with WiiGator's cIOS.

And for the last time, they are not the same.

1/ i've read in a french forum this afternoon that a few people who did instal wanin's CIOS couldn't use wiigator's launcher anymore. is that a fact? could this be something specific to pal wii?

2/ will waninkoko's launcher work again if I install cios v6? (for some reasons, It seems to get better results than wiigator's when it comes to launching an NTSC game on a PAL wii, like RE4 or Okami for example)

1) Waninkoko's latest rev6 works with Backup Launcher 0.3 Beta
Maybe they used a earlier version.

2) I don't think it will. It might. Probably not. But you can always force the region on WiiGator's.

1/ agreed. it sounded strange anyway.

2/ i think i'll give a try and let you know. actualy there's a problem with the ntsc video signal when you try to use it on pal wii with rgb cables. you can get the game to run at 60htz, but you end up with a terrible headache-inducing red and green image no matter what you do. forcing 50htz mode can be a solution, but some game just won't launch when you do that ( No More Heroes and Okami for example). for some reasons, Wininkoko's launcher seemed to solve this problem.
