Before your edit, you previously asked about extracting from a GameCube memory card. I don't know if you edited it out because you figured it wasn't possible or because you found out yourself, but for anyone else reading the instructions are in that same Devolution setup guide I linked to:
http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-g...ion-guide-usb-loading-gamecube-games-wii.html

Specifically under Part 4: Using An Emulated Memory Card

Yes,I figured it out by actually reading the whole paragraph of your link! :grog:
As I understand it,we are absolute obliged to have the Devolution app installed always in our HBC even if we use only a Loader like Cfg/USB Loader and Wiiflow.

In other news,I had forgotten the disc verification issue!Oh my...

I have over 50 GC games,so Devolution for Wii was never a problem for me. But for Wii U , it is currently impossible to enable a disc verification without some ultra weird solution...

I haven't asked about verification, and he hasn't said anything. However, he has shown interest in supporting the WiiU, so I'm sure he'll come up with something...

No, you don't need the sample loader if you use a different loader. The actual devolution application is the loader.bin file. The HBC app is only a launcher for loader.bin, so if you use another launcher such as Wiiflow, you don't need the sample launcher, only loader.bin

I had the impression that we have to use it because it is the only place to store the emulated saves.

According to the Devolution guide " Now take your newly generated memcard.bin file and copy it over to USB/apps/gc_devo as that is the only place it can be read from."

The folder has to be there but it will create the folder if it's not there.
There doesn't actually have to be the boot.dol file in that folder for it to work, though.

I see...So,as far as I understand, we can create a gc_devo folder with the memcard.bin inside and put it in the apps folder....

Yeah, I think it has to be on the same drive/partition as the GameCube ISO image since Devolution would only be mounting one at a time ... and the other loaders (WiiFlow, CFG, GX, PostLoader) might be able to set a different location for that ... but I think that's the default, and what the sample loader uses anyways.

I wish the simple devolution loader could use a single apps/gc_devo directory whether its loading off sd or usb.

No, it does not. If you have the Devolution boot.dol on an SD card but have your games on USB, it will still put the memcard.bin on the USB drive in an apps/gc_devo folder.

A guy reported something weird concerning Devo in a Spanish forum (EOL):

he said he changed the password in his router but forgot to update it in the Wii. Then, he tried to play some GC games through Devolution, which was working perfectly for him until that moment, but Devo was not working anymore. He ripped his games again and re-verified all the isos, but all he got was a black screen. Everything started working fine again when he erased the old wifi's password in the Wii and wrote the new one.

Don't know if this is true or what the relation between Devo and the wifi is. What do you guys think about it?

I wonder if he was running it through the sample loader or some other loader. Since Devolution starts sending out a WiFi log when it starts up (at least the sample loader does) it might have been waiting for the WiFi to connect correctly and was just sitting there with a black screen through a bunch of failed attempts with the wrong password.

I do want to say thank you for this info and others, I got it to work by disabling Wiikey! Phew!!..
Can anyone else recommend some good multiplayer GC games for me to get on Amazon?

... I'd also love a save file for F-Zero with all the courses unlocked and everything unlocked on Animal Crossing! :-)

Thank you Tueidj and everyone else here!

Yep wrong that it can't work with modchip it can work with wiikey....you just have to change the following the rest you can leave on.

Load up your Wiikey Config disc and turn off Region Override

Whats the process for turning actual mem card to virtual.

I used gmcc to do a raw dump.
Renamed to memcard.bin
Put in apps/gc_devo

It is recognised but my actual saves for POS are not there.

Your memcard.bin is on the same SD/USB as your ISO disk image is right?

No it is not, SD card has memcard.bin and iso is on hdd. I guess I need on my hdd too.
Yeah, the boot.dol or loader.bin can be on either one you want but the memcard.bin needs to be in the same one as the game it's supposed to be used with.

Cheers, I think you cracked it.

EDIT
Yeah, the boot.dol or loader.bin can be on either one you want but the memcard.bin needs to be in the same one as the game it's supposed to be used with.

One more question, whats the procedure for going back the other way, virtual to real mem card?

Can I just rename memcard.bin to memcard.raw and it will restore? Or will it need to be the original name that it was dumped as?
