Does anybody know if this currently works with CFG USB Loader on the Wii U.

I used to have a couple of ISO files that worked on my Wii.

I have them in the same place, /games on the SD and CFG USB is on the latest version and it says I have Devo R200 installed.

Is there something I'm missing or does it not currently work on the Wii U this way?

Does anyone know if it's possible to have the power button function normally while using Devolution?

Anytime someone uses my Wii to play a gamecube back up, they press the power button to turn it off, and always forget that they have to wait for the Wii to return to the system menu and then can be turned off. This has caused my Wii to be on for hours longer than it's needed to be.

If it's not normally an option, then it would be amazing if someone figured out how to enable it.

Argh, I stayed up all night trying to get the latest version of Devolution to work. No luck. :(

I've tried running it via CFG Loader and via the Basic Loader, but either way, Devolution can't see any of the ISOs I've ripped via CFG Loader.

I tried renaming game.iso to gameID.iso, that didn't work. Just made the iso not show up in CFG Loader.

I tried ripping a GC game to a 2GB Sandisk SD card. Devolution couldn't see it either.

I'm out of ideas. Here's my sysCheck:

Thanks for any advice. I hope there's something I've overlooked - I'm really hoping that my 1TB WD external hard drive is compatible. It seems to play Wii games via CFG just fine. Wii64 can't seem to read the ROM folder, though...

One more thing: My 1TB HDD is formatted FAT32, Allocation Unit Size 32768. I guess cluster size is 32; a 1-character text document is 32kb, IIRC. I used FAT 32 GUI Formatter, with quick format.

did you put the game in the /games/ folder?
/games/filename.iso

If you use /games/folder/game.iso then you need another loader to see the game and launch it.
Maxternal's sample loader mod can read games via that format.

Also, did you try ripping via CleanRip and/or verify that your ISO's checksums are correct? And again, make sure that your emulated memory card is on the same storage device as your games (CFG is known for derping that up). Lastly, Devolution does not work with modchips.

Thanks all, but I must have screwed something up. I'm going to wait it out for the Nintendont official release.

Thanks again.

Anyone have any advice for a flash drive that simply refuses to work with devolution?

I have two flash drives, one is an 8 GB one is a 64 GB.

The 8 GB works fine, but if you try selecting a game on the 64 GB then it just goes to the black screen where you're supposed to verify your game and then hangs.

It's (maybe) worth mentioning that this flash drive works fine for loading Wii games.

Any advice appreciated thanks!

...Uh, me thinks you didn't. Devolution won't work with modchips, so make sure you disable/remove it if you have one. Devolution doesn't require ANYTHING other than system menu 4.x and IOS 58 - both of which come with the newest official Wii update.

If you screwed up your Wii system so bad that Devolution doesn't work, then you've got way bigger problems.

Seriously, all you need to do is make sure your drive is FAT32, rip your game discs with CleanRip, put the newly-ripped ISOs in USB:\games or SD:\games and then load the Devolution sample loader. Really, that's it.

Just be aware that in the sample loader, if you use the classic controller, you have to press "A" for 'x' and press "X" for 'y'.

The 8 GB works fine, but if you try selecting a game on the 64 GB then it just goes to the black screen where you're supposed to verify your game and then hangs.
Make sure it's FAT32. Also, assuming you've backed up any important data on it, try nuking the partition table with Parted Magic (Link) via the "Erase Disk" tool and then creating a new partition table via the "Disk Partitioner" utility.

My 16GB Corsair flash drive wouldn't work on my Wii at all until I did that process.

I sure wish I could find a fire emblem path of radiance game disc for a reasonable price. I mean I already have it on dios mios, but I want to play it on devolution. So I can use the classic controller with it. :(

Definitely FAT32, and I tried creating a new partition table with GParted, but I'll try Parted Magic as well.

What does it mean when Devolution flashes 10 times and then reboots back to the HBC?

I've got a copy of Need for Speed: Most Wanted that just won't verify. I tried ripping the disc via CFG Loader Mod and via CleanRip, but both failed around the 80% mark. The disc isn't even that scratched...

I tried an ISO of the game from the 'net, which will at least get me to the part where Devolution asks for the disc to be inserted, but then I get those 10 flashes and the reboot.

I put the full, ~1.36GB ISO in the right folder, along with the "sys" folder, which contains 3 other files. One of those is either "boot.bin" or "boot2.bin" - is it or either of the other two sys files significant?

I got another game - Custom Robo - to work, using the "ISO from the 'net, scratched disc to verify" method.

I'm guessing the 10 flashes means my NFS: MW disc isn't clean enough to verify with, or perhaps the ISO I got was edited in some way...?

Thanks for any advice! I'm making progress now. :)

I read that to play games on the Wii U, I need to first read them on an original Wii. My question is, do I need to load a game every time on wii and then on wii u, or can I load a bunch of games on the wii through the remote mentioned in step 5 of Devolution ReadMe, and then play them all on Wii U without always having to go back to the original Wii? My original Wii already has HBC on it. Please help and thoughts appreciated :)

Also: What tools/programs would I need to be able to use memory card data? And do I need a y-split usb cord if using a Western Digital 1TB My Passport? And how would I bypass the Wii U wanting to format my HDD? For my HDD, can I have a partition for my Computer Backup, and also a partition for Wii/GameCube? What format does the Wii Partition need to be?

You can do all of them on your Wii with your Wii U's Wiimotes just one time and then you can play any of those games on your Wii U as many times as you want.
