I noticed that in the Switch Dev Menu, there's an option to write to gamecard.
Could this possibly be used to write games to a gamecard (eg. put Super Mario Odyssey on a cartridge for another game).

If not, then what is it used for?

I don't think it will work for existing gamecards containing games (must be write protected) but blank gamecards which we don't have.

Why would they have built in such a function?
On GameCards are recorded contents with special industrial devices, aren't they? Or are DEV kits also used in the manufacture of gamecards?

All retail cards are read only. You can not replace the game at all.

This function isn't used for manufacturing, it's just for testing

Google gangwriter and you will see previous commercial flashers made for older Nintendo products. There is little reason for such large commercial products unless your a dev studio of 100s.

For 99% of studios out there a flashcart or two plus a devkit is more than enough for testing purposes. Devmenu is a software that comes with the devkit.

Retail carts are read only, you cannot reflash.

It would be fun to have one of those testcards. No real reason to it, but just the novelty.

I collect devkits and dev related hardware. It's stupid how much older flashcarts go for these days. And a wideboy? Good luck finding it under 2k.

I've yet to snag a switch devkit, anything current gen is hard to get as they are still on the books and quiet expensive. I've seen the new PS4 test consoles but not the dech* full devs. I have a prototype Xbox one xdk, though no valid dev cert.

Its for writing to dev carts on devkits. It doesn’t do anything on retail along with alot of the other options probably because devmenu isnt intended to be ran on retail systems

DEVmenu ... says it all.
But it's still cool we got to look into what the options are.
Some nifty ones in there; like export / import saves to/from SD.

Here is me still hoping I can get my saves transferred sometime from my superbanned to ipatched Switch ... but ... let's give it time.
