Why is there no Video of hacking a Switch with the Deja Vu exploit....
Hexkyz said something gets public later this week what was that wasnt it Deja vu?

You made it sound like it was a tweet from this week? How do we know what you're talking about?

Anyway they're working on it

Here's your video from over a year ago of Deja Vu in action:

I think @_hexkyz_ is busy working on emunand for Atmosphere so everything else is taking a backseat at the moment. Unless Deja Vu being patched pushed it up on his priority list.

never heard something with emuand but your answer is not very helpful cuz i guess he dont works so 2 months straight xd

This just references 7.0.x Deja Vu, but it implies that emunand is a higher priority.

The Scene stuff are free and, because of that, they don't have tight deadlines. So even if they say something in the lines of "soon™" you just need to chill down and wait. Maybe one week, a month or a Year. Trust me, you really don't want any rushed and buggy exploit running on your console. Just wait and follow the creator's Twitter, Discord or whatever.

I can afford waiting for deja vu but what is in the future of cracking the switch? Would a patched unit on 7.0.1 still be able to move forward as long as Atmosphere keeps going?

Deja vu is just the newest entry point and the most convenient right? That doesn't stop the rcm jig from being useful on unpatched units despite the firmware?

Deja Vu is semi-old. It uses diffrent kind of bugs as far as I can tell. Deja Vu is totally patched in Firmware 8.0, and until some one of the hackers finds a way to "keep the bugs" in even when upgrading your CFW. You are SOL. Else Emunand is the only thing that will save you.

So no, RCM is the most convenient since it isn't patchable on a software level.

RCM still is the "superior" exploit, DejaVu is a warmboot that will be used on RCM bug patched units. So people with these devices will be able to run homebrew and CFW in the near future. Also, if you got a patched unit, don't "break" the BOOT0 to get AutoRCM or you are gonna get stuck with an expensive paperweight.
Edit: Also, they will be able to move forward with Atmosphere, but not with any OFW... yet.

Now I'm kinda conflicted on getting a patched unit. I already have an unpatched one. I thought getting a patched unit for legit use would be the next step moving forward (planning to get a switch revision anyway).

if I can set up a sysnand at latest firmware and emunand on 7.0.1 on it, can I avoid getting banned and straddle the best of both worlds?

You can do that setup on an unpatched unit right now with SX OS. And Atmosphere will apparently be adding their emunand implementation in the near future. Sysnand online and clean, emunand offline and dirty has been safe since it was released.

Oh ok... Man I got scared for nothing. Guess I need to keep up to date on the news more. I'll have to wait for a bigger memory card to start working on it...

If your question is about your unpatched Switch, yes. If you're asking about a patched Switch, no, updating sysnand to latest would mean no hax so no emunand. But the other way around would work on a patched system, 7.0.1 or lower sysnand for deja vu, and updated emunand (once they're all available).

Pretty scary I reckon on reflection to think that anyone having a newer ipatched switch has to always worry about the potential (very small I agree) to accidentally trigger AutoRCM.
Just the ability that it can be done - like having a brick switch if ever you were crazy/drunk enough to do it.

Not only that but also you don't want to discourage a dev that is working on something for you for free or worse yet make them angry. Because what if your friendly neighborhood developer started thinking :
"Those whiney little ungrateful idiots, I'm sick and tired of it! I don't have to do this."
Then he drops the project.
