As any other type of movie I think it would've been a flop, but it works out great for a Deadpool movie. What I mean by that for anyone who hasn't seen it is: almost every scene transition is a hard cutaway to the next, so it doesn't hold the audience's hand in terms of story-boarding, but it's easy enough to follow regardless. The Loki Disney+ series and Logan are probably the closest things to "required" viewing before watching this, but anyone would enjoy it for the comedy aspect.
