As for your initial problem, I cannot help more than TurdPooCharger already did.
However, for the battery being plugged in, you have to check all fuses as described upper in the thread, and have a look at the ribbon cable between daughter and mother boards in order to identify if there are any burnt traces. Microscope would help...
