Hi

Ive been told my wii has a D2B drive with cut pins.

Im wondering if anyone would be so kind as to inform me what to look for to confim this when I open up my wii.

Im new to wii modding so I apologise if this is a noob question

Im also looking at the following solderless chip-

http://wii-repairs.com/osc/product_info.ph...;products_id=93

Is this a good choice or should I look at something else?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks. Got the following-

Your drive most likely has the following chipset:

* There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D2B with cut pins.
* And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2B with cut pins and missing third pad.

Can anyone recommend a chip with wii clip?

The only way to KNOW is to...

Wait for it...

Open the Wii up. The drive chip will say, in BIG LETTERS, what chip it is.

NOT!!

it's not really that big...

carefully remove the screws holding your DVD drive in...

flip the drive over (grab the side of the drive at the bottom of the Wii, and flip up and over to the gamecube ports.)

Now, there are 2 connections (white braided cable, and ribbon cable)... look at the black chip closest to the ribbon cable... it's the smaller of the 2 on that side... you will have to have PLENTY of light... read what the chip says... xxx-D2xx

That's what chipset you have!
