interesting...

Yeah, I was thinking of buying a cyclods today since I'll be giving my gf my TTDS, but this has me seriously reconsidering. I'm still trying to find out the severity of this problem, but so far it does look like a common problem which seems far more noted than other flashcarts. Here's a thread which has some comments and tests on this problem- team cyclops thread. Look at the 4th page for some benchmarks and whatnot.

Anyways, I'm still considering getting one but I too need to find out just how much of a problem this will be. If it is, I might as well skip on some features and go for a cheaper card.
It's a problem blown out of proportion by reckless exaggerations. For example, do you really think the Cyclo can use up enough battery life so that a lowest brightness DS Lite only get 2-3 hours of play? That's impossible; a max brightness DS lite can get more. Like I said, reckless exaggerations. Most people do not have the patience to do professional tests on this matter, so they just say crap like that. Luckily for you, there are some people who do tests on these matters. Our admin shaunj66 was one of these people. Read the official GBAtemp review of the Cyclo.

No one is going to tell you that the Cyclo does not use up more battery life than a read DS game. The results clearly show that it does. If you think that's a big difference, you are free to buy another card.
ok it may be an exaggeration, I'll give you that. But once you get the red light with the cyclo and you've been using other cards in the past the first thing that will come to mind is "Didn't i JUST charge this?". Trust me.

^^JJBro go away.

I put the screenlight on 2,and use a headset.I get at least 7 hours.
Without the headset I get 4/5 hours.
ok in that case some of us may have units that eat up the battery faster.

I have one of the latest Cyclos and I do notice a difference in battery life compared to other flash carts, but it's not THAT bad. Hasn't this already been attributed to there being more hardware in a CycloDS evo than in other kits?

The Cyclo has an extra memory chip for the on-board firmware, but it shouldn't use up that much battery life.

My very unprofessional test:
I just clocked a 5 hour 30 minute run before the light turned RED. Second highest backlight, sound at 25% - 33%, no headphones. The game I played was FF4, and I used it's in-game timer to measure how long I've been playing since I charged the DS. I used cheats and In-game menu's soft reset a lot.

2GB Taiwan Kingston MicroSD.

Just saying, because some have speculated that the extra features use up more life, which I completely agree with.
And I only cheated to get the augments I didn't know about in the beginning.
