Hacking CycloDS 1.5 beta 3

I know that many of you will not read the ReadMe, so I'm posting what TeamCyclops says about their new "Battery Saver mode."

Experimental battery saver mode
-------------------------------

We have added an EXPERIMENTAL battery saver mode which when enabled will allow
you reduce battery consumption, resulting in longer play times in-between
charges. The amount of additional play time varies depending on several factors
including the LCD backlight brightness, the condition of your NDS battery, the
game you are playing and your MicroSD card. The battery saver mode also will
significantly extend the amount of time your NDS will last if left in sleep mode.
For best results we suggest using a low LCD backlight setting - this should always
be done if you are concerned about battery consumption!

This feature is currently very experimental and we have been unable to thoroughly
test it with as many games as we would like. Although unlikely, it has the
potential to cause game compatibility issues. Due to these factors, at the current
time the feature is only accessible via the config.xml file. To enable the
experimental battery saver mode, please set the entry in the
config.xml file to 1.

The new Battery Saver function may be worth trying. TC is keeping a tight lip on what exactly the feature is doing in the background, but a few users have reported a couple of extra hours of battery life.

Could be significant reduction in instruction/execution cycles. Not sure how many battery that will save but given that the only change is in the firmware, TC is limited to what can be done.

I've loaded the 1.5 beta3 2 days ago, have not seen any significant advantages yet since I've not been playing my DS that much. TC's website seems fine to me. I can access it now.

Did you enable the battery saver feature in the config.xml? It (along with other advanced features) are disabled by default.

Where is the thread on the TC Forums? I saw they redesigned the forums a bit, but now I can't find where the 1.5 beta 3 thread is. (yes I know the firmware is on gbatemp, just want to know where the thread is)

I don't see anything about battery life in the settings. What is the config.xml?

You can only view the Beta Forums if you register and log in.

That depends on what version of firmware you're running. Hop on over to the forums and read through the 1.5B3 Beta thread.
