Homebrew Custom Theme Thread

Solid color w/ texture themes are still pushed back in 3D, but in a cylindrical way. The middle of the image is pushed farther than the left and the right sides.

Thank You. But I have not understood what does this brick. What is the "effect" of this brick?
I've "bricked" mine a few times while checking out the different theme settings (e.g. activating "bottom outer" in yata, because the bottom screen wasn't a "solid" theme I assume). After you apply the theme and exit ninjhax, the home menu never loads and the screens just stay black because the theme is invalid. If you try to reboot or enter from the "in sleep mode..." screen with the SD card still in, the home menu still won't load.

You restart without an SD card to force the default home menu to load (themes are saved on the SD card, not in 3DS), then you can pop the SD card back in and replace the invalid theme from there.

I was already aware of the method by which fix the brick, but thank you for giving explained the "effect" of the brick. I did not realize it was about just the black screen of the Home Menu.

Hi guys, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but I'm looking for some help with creating themes with a panoramic image.

I'm trying to make a Persona Q theme at the moment and I have this image for my top screen here (it's unfinished) :

FINALLY GOT THIS SHIT TO WORK.png

It's 1024 x 256 pixels and I'm using YATA and ninjhax to apply it on to my 3DS. It applies on well and I see it clearly on the 3DS but the problem is the panning isnt seamless even though while offsetting in photoshop there is no seam at all.I'm also using the free sonicboom theme thingy..
Any ideas to what is happening?
( My first custom theme here :D)

@xWaterLily try this version, see if it's seamless for you :)

EDIT: The white space there, it's because the viewable area for these panoramic images in themes is actually 1008x240 but you need the extra space around it when you make the theme and import it.

Thanks to the help on this forum I was able to make a few of my own. I think I might have an addiction.

I'll definitely be making more, I'm having to much fun.

I went ahead and made a Puzzle Bobble (Bust-a-Move) theme! This theme is pretty comprehensive and its main feature would be the flipping touchscreen animation, which showcases the cute little critters launching bubbles. Each frame uses an authentic sound sampled from the arcade game, so scrolling through the touch screen almost feels like playing, haha. It's pretty neat! There's a custom sound for every possible 3DS action, like the classic Neo Geo Insert Coin SFX when you open the 3DS, for example. The sounds are sampled from the arcade game, so it all fits very well. There's custom folders and borders, too. The BGM is from the first Puzzle Bobble level.

Anyway~

  • Flipping Touch Screen (Bubble Launching)
  • BGM (First Puzzle Bobble Level)

  • CHMM Preview
