Also, does anyone know how to alter the sound that plays when you come out of sleep mode with the system? I noticed the template I used to make my theme panoramic uses a wake jingle that simply doesn't fit my theme very well.

EDIT: I switched to my Link Between Worlds template and that took away the wake jingle. Now if I could figure out how to alter the folder colors...

Wow... This is a really solid theme. I'm really impressed with how seamless it is. How were you able to get sound working? I can never get my sounds to work, and yet yours isn't the exact size as listed in the tutorial, but it works. How did you do that?

Anyone have custom themes installable and working without some kind of shitty flashcart or exploit yet? I wanna dress up my 9.2U 2DS. Surely someone has made a tool, but I'm not reading 13 pages of thread to find it.

the size doesn't have to be exact, it just needs to be equal to or less than 3.37mb

Convert your sound to a WAV file and try to get the size of it between 10 and 11 MB. Then use the BRSTM converter to make it loop correctly and make a BRSTM. Finally, convert that BRSTM into a BCSTM. If the WAV you tried to convert was between 10 and 11 MB the resulting BCSTM should be the right size to work correctly.

Hmm... Mine was less than 3MB on the first try, actually. I remember seeing a post mentioning that you can download the bcstm's from brawlcustommusic directly, but do these not work currently? I guess I'm off to make my own brstm then..

I suggest that you just try doing what compc just replied to you since that was what I did with mine.

Probably a stupid question, but I can't figure it out, is it possible to use the default free themes as a base. Like the Blue buttons/folders of the free blue theme would be perfect for something I'm working on.

I should mention that, I've tried setting that theme and then extracting it to the SD card but it ended up extracting my custom theme I've been testing with.

Here's an ACNL theme. I own none of the rights to these images. I got them off google image serach so sorry in advance to whoever made these illustrations for not getting credit. I left in the credit in the photo, but the res is so low that it can't really be read.

Also, there's no custom music because that stuff's over my head. If anyone wants to update it with some sweet music, please do!

I was trying to make a nice Metroid Prime theme but I'm still working out what looks good and doesn't have any leftover white space
Just in case I continue to fail at it and quit, perhaps anyone up to the task could make a nice Metroid theme?

TidusWulf, I edited a link to the theme to my post. It's not exactly complete yet because I wanted to really customize it all the way that I could first, but it's looking like that might not be as easy as I thought so consider it a work in progress
Also, I have the top image shifted to the right some on purpose since I have my main icons moved over because of how the Link Between Worlds theme was made. Basically, I made it to better suit my homescreen, so hopefully that isn't too much of a bother.

I've got it as my theme right now and I'm really digging it, good work! My only suggestion is to change the color from yellow if you can, maybe that is something set on my 3DS though. In your picture above the color of the Y and L+R buttons on the top screen is greyish clear but for me they are yellow.

If you could make the yellow in these black that would be perfect.

EDIT: I'm thinking my theme may not need scrolling for the top screen, really. If I find a template that only scrolls on the bottom screen, I may use that and pick a good pose for Samus up top (just like the way you currently have it is fine) and then let the user have that part set no matter where they scroll on the bottom.

Hell yeah. I was actually thinking about making it a Screw Attack icon, but that's good too.
