crash using gecko codes on dolphin 5.0 (Wii)

ok so I dl'd a iso of fire emblem radiant dawn am on ubuntu 17.10 (but error occurs in win 10 as well) anyways when i use a code or 2 namely quick level up it crashes after loading or entering a battle/map citing read error at 0x(sector number here) now if i have no codes on i don't get the read error so i dobut its a corrupt iso (md5 checksum is 5d030f0f1b2d893d239227ef639fd7fc) it's the usa iso if it helps any

I have an ar code for infinite gold working and its a Gecko code, i guess some do work, although EVERYTHING else ive tried does not work, no gecko or ar codes work anymore on Dolphin 5 except infinite gold in FE RD
