I ordered a Supercard DSTwo from Eachgame.com. It arrived a week ago and I set it up with the latest firmware, EOS, and patch on a DS Lite following The SuperCard DSTWO Beginner's Guide to a T.
The DSTwo is only recognized by my DS Lite intermittently and never on a 3DS. I chalked it up as a fit issue. Eachgame.com has proven less than helpful with a return, and I'm beginning to wonder if the card is counterfeit.

The game icon on the DS Lite is a SuperCard DSTwo icon, not the "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker" icon I have been led to expect.

Is this expected with the newest firmware (1.19) on the DS Lite, or do I possibly have a counterfeit?

Thanks for your help.

I haven't heard of a fake DSTWO, but i have read loads of posts concerning the DSTWO not being recognised on a DS console.

This is my concern as well. I haven't been able to find any evidence of fake DSTwos, but I'm not sure that the game icon (on the DS Lite menu) should indicate that it is a DSTwo with the latest firmware.

if its on a DSlite intermitendtly but not on a 3DS
its normally a sign of a bad micro SD card
the problem is there are so many Fake MicroSD cards that its hard to know what you have

you also are recommended to get a Class 4 or Class 6 Micro SD

the issue is because part of teh Header data (which the 3DS checks) is on stored in the EOS, so if the SD card is acting up then you will get booting errors

I tested with two 32GB micro SDHC Sandisk Class 4 cards. One of which is my phone's card and works perfectly. Both had the same behavior.

Could you clarify your first sentence a little, please? Thanks for the feedback.

The DSTWO shows up as a DSTWO on a DS and DS Lite. Only on DSi, DSi XL, 3DS and 3DS XL does it actually show as a spoofed game.

I'd chalk it up to a bad microSD/poor connection between the DSTWO and the microSD, or a poor connection between the DSTWO and the console. I've yet to hear of counterfeit DSTWOs.

Ah, cool. This is the information I was looking for. I agree it is a fit issue, but I wanted to make sure that what I was seeing (in regards to the game icon) was as expected.

It seems I was just unlucky and got a bad one.

Do you have anything smaller, microSD capacity wise, to test it with? I can't say I've used 32s in mine, I've used 4, 8, and 16, and they all work fine for me.

Also, just for the hell of it:

In a DS Lite

In a 3DS

I'd try a smaller microSD if I were you. If you don't have one, pick one up from your closest store that sells them, most stores will let you return them even if they're opened, so if it doesn't fix it you're not out anything, just a little bit of gas and time.

Sicklyboy - thanks for the pics. The first one is exactly what I see when it works.

As for a different SD card, I considered that for a while. However, and correct me if I'm wrong here, the interaction between the DS console and the DSTwo card is handled purely by the firmware (1.19 in my case) installed on the DSTwo until the DSTwo is booted. Therefore, one should see the DSTwo icon on the DS homescreen regardless of the presence of an SD card. If one then selects the DSTwo all that should appear would be the "NO FIND SD CARD" blue screen.

I have seen that blue screen a couple of times, but the intermittence of the DS Lite detecting the DSTwo seems to be independent of the presence of an SD card.

I just double checked it on my systems. As far as I can tell, the DSTWO does NOT appear on the DS Lite unless an SD card is inserted.

Now, on the 3DS, I could have sworn I've gotten it to show without an SD, but I also can now not get the card to show up on the home menu unless an SD card is inserted.

I just checked as well and couldn't get the DS Lite to recognize the DSTwo, thought I must admit it's hard to get it to recognize it with an SD card.

I can try it with a 16GB from my wife's phone tonight. We'll see if your theory holds. However, the device would still be out of spec, would it not?

Out of spec in what way?

I've tried it with 16GB microSD cards and I can attest to the fact that they DO work, it'll just come down to if it's a good microSD card and how well the card itself work. 32GB is also SDHC but I haven't tried ones that big. I don't know if there are any incompatibilities with them or not.

It very well may be that you just got a dud DSTWO. I just want to make sure there's nothing else that can be done for it, because returning stuff is always a pain in the ass.

Agreed. It is a pain to return stuff, and I'm trying to get as much info as possible before following that path to its end.

I didn't mean to imply that you haven't had 16GB cards work, I meant your hypothesis was that my 32GB cards might be bad or too big to work properly. It's an interesting hypothesis and one I look forward to testing. I know for a fact that the 16GB card and the 32GB card from my phone are fine as they've worked with mine and my wife's phones for over a year. It may be that the DSTwo just doesn't like 32GB cards.

The reason I doubt that, however, comes form the supercard site. Unfortunately, you'll have to scroll down to the question which is third from the bottom for the relevant info, if you're curious.

I appreciate your help in eliminating contingencies as your experience with a working DSTwo is obviously something I do not have.

I did my due diligence and went ahead and tested with a 16GB micro SD. It was a Kingston class 4. Still the same behavior. It seems I just happened to get a bad DSTwo.

There has been a rampancy lately of Bad DSTWO carts, a few of us had the same problem. The issue is a fit problem, the 3ds squeezes these newer DSTWOS too much and causes them to error out. Your gonna need a replacement, I got my replacement from RHS, and it works flawlessly now.

Mine doesn't even work well on my DS Lite. I'd be happy if it worked only on that . I'll look to a different merchant to get my replacement, most likely.

i 100% have the same issue with you,

- from eachgame.com
- only show on my niece DSLite and DSi, not on 3DS, tried all fix/etc, still no show on my 3DS,

now i'm in the process of Paypal Claim, for the seller to resend a working unit, or else a refund.
(luckily i'm using paypal for this kind of buying)

Try different microSD card.

Unfortunately when it comes to questionable purchase such as flashcart, PayPal will unlikely help you at all.
