Hello GBATemp Community!

The thread title says it all. I searched trough different topics, but got no real answer.

At one side I have a black Nintendo 3DS (Nand Firmware 7.1) with:

- The download games from the ambassador program
- The 25th Anniversary Zelda
- Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies + DLC
- 1x Fire Emblem DLC.

At the other side I have a white Nintendo 3DS XL (Nand Firmware 4.5, EmuNand Firmware 7.1)

All I want to do is a system transfer from black Nand 7.1 to white EmuNand 7.1.
Is it possible to transfer all the stuff to the white EmuNand?

One says it works, one says that it doesnt work. I'm confused. : (

Edit: Ah, and sorry for the bad english.

Just don't setup an internet connection on 4.5.X RealNAND.
I think that 2.0B2 supports system transfer but 2.0B1 doesn't.
Well, that's a good idea. Hm.. 2.0B2 is that brick-launcher-fun, right? : /

Do you know what exactly happens when you do a system transfer? Never did this before to be honest.

You'd need to use 2.0B2 which, as already stated, is known for bricking consoles. 2.0B1 doesn't work properly with 7.1 on EmuNAND. But from what I know, before all this bricking occurred, it was possible to do system transfers on EmuNAND.

I see, thank you.

I just wondered.. even when I do the system transfer and it tries to update the RealNand on the white 3DS XL, it should at least ask me before doing so.. right? Otherwise the message should not even pop up, because the EmuNand is up to date.

I'm curious about something.

Assuming you managed to system transfer from your black to white.
Then reloaded the pre-system transfer emunand onto your black.

Can you access the same nnid with both black and white? XD

I've done this a month ago with 2.0b2 and it worked almost perfectly, transferred from a blue ambassador 3ds xl (did systrans before) to a silver 4.5 3ds xl. I updated both emunand on silver and nand on blue to 7.1 and well, simply performed the transfer (in gateway mode).
If you have any problems with having to redownload all games, take a look at this post of mine: http://gbatemp.net/threads/possible...nd-after-system-transfer.360359/#post-4879620

You can do the system transfer on GW 2.0b2. I've done it myself. What I would do is use 2.0b2 to do the system transfer, then switch to 2.0b1.

There are some problems with emunand 7.1 on 2.0b1, such as eshop and SDK5+ games not working. But your downloaded games should work fine.

I can also confirm it works. Make sure you switch to the SD card from the legit firmware 3DS or copy the 3DS folder or your Eshop games etc won't show up. I had my eshop versions of Pokemon X and Mario and Luigi dream team working perfectly after the transfer on Emunand... Saves and all .

Thank you all for the quick and helpful answers! : )

It worked almost perfect. Okay, I did a little mistake cause my download games didnt show up in the EmuNand, but I'm downloading them right now again from the EShop.

Will test if I can start all the games without problems right after that. =)

This is great news indeed! I recently acquired a 3DS with firmware 4.4 and planned on doing this exact thing. I read somewhere else it wasn't possible, great to hear it works.

A question I'm having though: As you make the system transfer in EmuNand, are your transfered e-shop games and content also only useable in the EmuNand, or are they also accessible if you don't use the Gateway exploit (in the normal 4.4/4.5 firmware system menu)

I think I'm too scared of bricking my Gateway to actually try this right away when it arrives, there is also a new system update (7.2) out, so I'm not sure if it would even work now. If everything works as planned, I would actually be able to sell my former ambassador 3DS and get me another Gateway-enabled one instead.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Stainer!

I did too, but then I read the opposite here and was a bit confused - but it's really truth. : )

Good question. I will test this when I'm finished with loading all the games and switch back to 2.01b.

The reason why I'm doing it is cause I want to sell my normal 3DS soon to a friend. (Sadly he hates Phoenix Wright and I wont let this sweet game on the device to rot there forever.. not sure if this sentence makes sence)

Excuse me.. but what update? Or do you mean in the future?
Im right at the moment in the shop, still on 7.1 .. or do you mean til your card arrives?

I will check again, maybe I was mistaken with the update. Could you please test to launch your games on your original firmware, without the gateway exploit, to see if that would work too?

Thx

That's disappointing, but I assume you could just transfer your emunand to your actual nand if there should ever be an exploit in a higher version fw. Not sure about that though, having the ambassador etc. only in the emunand on the sd card might be a dealbreaker for me.

Why? Just stay in Gateway mode the whole time. You're more limited by running 4.x sysNAND then 7.1 emunand (well, I guess GBA games are the exception since they don't work on emunand.)
