I'm also in 9.0, and I don't know if update or not. I read that there is no mayor update from 9.0 to 9.2, so... Also, great signature, very "educative".

On topic:
@Pablo Giambelluca you always can update your r4 with last firmware available in the webpage, and then try it on a 9.2 3DS, a friend's console for example. I don't think that it brick the card (someone please confirm this fact)
And if not, gamble it, and update your 3DS and your R4 and try it yourself.

i have looked into it and the difference is next to nothing in the update log so i may stay on 9.0 as you can always go up but not down.

They do... and they are... I don't want to sound rude but if you're ignorant to what the situation is in other countries don't try to push your opinion to call me cheap. What you may see or hear from the outside a lot of times doesn't correlate with what the people living day to day and with an honest work get. As it is a 3DS game costs me 1/5th of my monthly wage (which is the standard salary around here), the 3DSXL itself was a gift.

To everyone else thanks for your help... what I gather from this is: if my r4 is working currently in 7.0.0, will it still work in 9.2 if I upgrade now?... from the comments I gather that I'm safe if I'm post 6.1 (7.0) and working it should have no problems? Sorry for the inconvenience and my english.

Well, fuck. I knew games/consoles were more expensive there, but I didn't realise *how* expensive.
If a game were to cost a fifth of *my* monthly wage it'd set me back $800. Granted I make well above the average wage, but I think it helps put things in perspective for those ignorant outsiders.

UPDATE ASAP.

GW stated that the next update will bring compatibility up to 9.2, and explicitly told users to refrain from updating beyond that, as they cannot ensure it will be compatible with higher firmwares. Nintendo is about to release 9.3, and there are no retail games that include any update between 9.0 and 9.3, so now is your only chance to update. If GW can't be used on 9.3 and higher, you'll be kicking yourself for not updating when you had the opportunity.

If you're still unsure, put your 3DS on sleep mode with wireless turned on and leave it like that overnight. It will download the 9.2 update but won't apply it. Instead it will prompt you to install it whenever you turn your 3DS on; you can always say no. So you can wait until you have a GW to say yes to updating; until then, always have wireless off so that it doesn't download anything higher than 9.2.

OMG, RIGHT? I'm on 9.0, the lower the better, also, I emailed Gateway about it a long time ago, they said just stay on 9.0.

Just so everyone knows I have an update... I updated to 9.2.0 and my r4 works fine!... I just wanted to add that if your r4 works in 7.0 or 7.1 its not assured that it will work in 9.2. A friend of mine (who is on 7.0) brought his r4 over to test it in my updated 3ds and his card wasn't recognized at all... that card is a r4 sdhc rts lite with a red 2013 on the upper right corner. Mine is the one from r4i-sdhc.com, the one that says wifi... again thank you very much for your insights and I hope this helps someone else.

I Know you bro... here we have hight taxed games as well... but wait, he blue card don't work in GW if you open in Gw classic? or maybe his old card as well?
And the GW don't work natively with 7.x? õ3o
but if you want to be safe, ask someone to borrow you a game that you can update just to 7.5 and still safe

But if the blue card don't work in updated, why do they keeps selling the duo?

Hi... maybe you can help me make a decision... right now I have a 3DSXL on firmware 7.0.0... I never updated because I play DS games with an r4 SDHC cart and can't buy 3DS games in my country due to extremely high prices (south america).

The thing is I really enjoy playing the old DS games but obviously would love to play with a Gateway... Gateway said 9.0.2 is required and we should update to it... but I'm afraid that if I update my firmware I won't be able to play old DS games anymore until I get a Gateway (could be months)... but at the same time I think there is no other way to go to firmware 9.0-9.2 without updating now?... and if I stay in 7.0.0 until I get the updated Gateway, will it have a way to play ds games or auto-update my 3DS to the needed firmware?

TLDR: If I update to 9.x do I lose my ability to play old ds games with my cart? If I stay on 7.0.0 now do I lose my ability to upgrade to 9.x later?

Thank you, I already did... ... I'm happy on 9.2 and my r4 works... so I'll join the Gateway club eventually, now I just have to save some money and plan for a february/march buy once everything settles and I guess Gateway price returns to normal! I'm guessing price will raise a bit after this incredible update

The answer to the whole topic simple.. you're safe as long as you don't go beyond 9.2 , that's it end off , Well sort of xd .

If when 9.3 no one knows .
And GW is still coming .......
