I'm playing it off a hard drive. I don't believe your problem to be with your backup file. What kind of hard drive are you using and is it powered by the USB port?

Do you have a USB pen/RAM drive you can put your backup file on and try to load it from that for testing?

what happens when you load it? does it black screen or reset back to system menu?

also knowing what you have installed can be helpful...what cios are you using? what version of cfg/neogamma are you using?

update your cios files, use d2x installers/hermes 5.1 installer. most stuff works fine from usb with hermes 222/d2x v6 base56.

Vash, I think I explained it two posts up, but I can re-iterate: I just updated my cIOS from d2x ver 2 to ver 6, I am using CFG ver 70 (249 base) and: "Each does the same thing; it attempts to load game, screen goes black with a small 'Escape from Bug Island" logo appearing bottom right, flashing a few times, switching to bottom left, flashing... and that's it, it stays at that point. Also of note, I never get a health screen which I thought was odd."
The NeoGamma I think is the final release, r9 / v13 or 14 something like that - I am at work now so I don't remember exactly.

I'm not too sure I'm allowed to post this here, but I'm having problem with Wii Sports & Resort (Europe).
It's complicated....
I recently moved to Europe, and I brought my NTSC Wii with me. With the standard composite cables on a plain old CRT TV, I can play all the games I had on my HDD with CFG USB loader ( most of which are NTSC-U versions ) .
But when I play this PAL version, even though it plays fine, the screen flickers to much, and gives me a terrible headache ( I'm no longer used to a CRT TV, let alone one that flickers that much ! ).
I guess it's a PAL 50 game.
I tried forcing NTSC, and the loading screen was fine and flicker free, but once I choose the game, it hangs on a black screen.
Same thing when I try to force PAL 60, and I even tried the alternate dol loading or even force region.
ANY other game works and looks just fine.
Anybody has any suggestion

Try to play around with the video patches and make sure you are using cfg-loader v70 and cIOS249 d2x v6.

Yes.

Have you tried all the applying all video patches?
And yes.
And thank you both, but I'm getting a severe headache here....problem is, I'm not too sure some options conflict with others and prevent the game from starting. Like I choose sneek, then sneek+all with alt dol on, then video patch on with force region on and alt dol off........
What makes it actually complicated, is the CFG loader itself, so at least I'm posting in the right section.
When I shot down and restart the Wii, the CFG loader hangs on the splash screen and freezes there. Everytime it happens, I need to power off the Wii, power off my WD 1.5 TB HDD by holding the button for 5 seconds or so, and then restart both , adjust the options for this game and then repeat...
This freezing on the splash screen never happened before with my 130 GB WD HDD, and I'm on v70 with cIOS249 d2x v6.
I really wanted to surprise my parents with a bowling game, but I guess I'll have to wait for the NTSC version, if it ever gets dumped.
Thanks for your help.

Hm.... So CFG Loader is freezing now? Try deleting the usb-loader folder, or you could try using IOS222 to load CFG up & see if that will help get past the splash screen. Seeing as your referencing SNEEK I assume it works as its suppose to? I've never experienced this problem with any game; are you using the Wii Sports +Restort game that just came out over there in europe? I ask cause I could see if I can replicate the same issue with the game.

It only hangs when I restart the Wii after a game crashes or doesn't shot down properly. Otherwise the CFG boots fine.
It' s the (E) version of Wii Sports +Restort game that just came out that is giving me problems.
If I try to patch the video mode, I can only go as far as the first menu screen ( when you can choose which game to launch ), then I get a black screen.
I restart the Wii, and the CFG freezes at the splash screen. If however I shot down and restart both the Wii and the HDD, then everything works as expected.
I'll try deleting the CFG folder and I'll post back.
Thanks

In case anyone is following this, I have acquired a PAL version of the Bug Island backup and it is working fine... So I guess maybe I need to consider that the others were corrupt in some way. Any other ideas, please let me know.

@ Dravial - Wow I thought you said you had copies from multiple sources. Guess they were all the same after all

BTW, as you probably know already now that you have a working copy, the logo appears in the bottom right corner about a second before it goes to the nunchuck screen then the health screen.

Glad you got it sorted.

lol dexter, I actually had 2 other sources. both were completely different packed file sizes. Guess you never can tell. At least this one works, even if it's not my region - but now I am fairly sure it's not an issue with the loader. Thanks for trying to help!

Just bought The Smurfs Dance Party made a backup and tried to launch it with CFG and got Metafortress Response! Playing on disk works, but not with CFG. I have all updates, running CFG V70 d2xv6.

Just did a little research and came up with this. MetaFortress ™ enables software developers to easily protect applications against piracy, subversion and tampering. Unbeatable Protection. Oh well another Challenge! I guess now we can make a backup? Why or why can't I just make a backup what I have purchased and that IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, after some playing around with it, got it to work using cIOS249[56] v21d2x6, no other changes. Sorry for the Panic.

I have this exact same error. I am running cIOS249[56]v6. IOS Reload set to auto or on, no difference, kept getting METAFORTRESS RESPONSE! I am using V70 of config loader, fat32 hdd, files in .wbfs partitions, and i believe 4.2 version of operating system on wii.

I am trying to get metroid prime trilogy working.

I am using cf v70 249 with d2x v6 249(56) and d2x v6 249(57)

I can load MP1 and MP2 but MP3 will not load at all i just get a black screen.Any idea what the issue might be?

Tried the alt dol method as well with wiiflow R304 and had same issues.I assume it's a bad rip.

Size of game shown in wii backup manager is 7.44GB

Get a original copy and re-rip it to your hard drive and it will work fine .
I had the same problem

I'm currently getting another rip right now.

I do remember that when the game originally came out there was a bad rip of it going around.Looks like i found it.

Will post back later with results of a new rip.

I tried new rips with no avail, till I took Dr. Clippers advice
and re-ripped from the wii using original disc to the hard drive.
Good luck to you

Tried another rip and got the same results.

I think it was identical to the first rip i had because the amount of rar files matched up and everything.I guess i should have looked at that before downloading the whole thing.I knew i should have just went with a dvd9 rip of it instead lol

Oh well i got a gift card to the local video store so I'm just gonna stop in later and rent it then copy it over. That beats potentially wasting another 7GB+ on another download. It wouldn't be an issue if comcast didn't suck and put a 250gb cap per month on everyone.
