Awesome. This is the REAL ultimate usb loader.

Oh, and this only need two things for be perfect, and doesn't have (according to USB Loader Releases Matrix):

- Cover Auto Resize both 4:3/16:9: That will be very useful.
- Auto Update: Isn't so necesary, but still great.

Other thing that i was thinking is that if one can put, for example, a maximium of 5 mp3, like music.mp3, music2.mp3, music3.mp3, music4.mp3 and anytime you boot USB Loader, a random song will be launched.

Auto Update feature is nice but where to host?

Better fix the MP3 shutter issue first before playing a random song feature is implemented.

My humble opinion.

Ok, so there's a whole folder dedicated to disc images (not boxart)... how/when are these used?

Sorry for not reading all 30 pages, but it's like 4am, and was wondering...

first of all i want to thank all for the GREAT work!!! Thanks to all of them for spending time on the USB loader.
nice job!!

got one question,

do i have to replace all the files when i want to upgrade or can i just replace the boot.dol file and leave the config etc intact?
thanx! (right now im using the cfg12 files with the 1.5 boot.dol)

disc images can be used as an alternative to cover art, by using:
cover_style = disc

I suggest copy & replace all files that are in 'inSDroot' to your SD card.
And after that, you can start modifying your configs, backgrounds, etc...

Hell yeah, transparent background. Looking forward for all new nice backgrounds to use this feature.
smile.gif
Button hold-down feature is fantastic as well.

Just noticed a small issue with the last version (haven't tried out your newest version yet, it just sounds cool
biggrin.gif
): When the USB drive is available at startup of the loader, the mp3 background music plays normally (with some stuttering now an then). But when the drive is not available (initialization to slow or something like that), everything works, but without music. So in short: The loader only starts the music, if the drive is available and ready at startup, otherwise it does not. Maybe a reason for some users not getting music to work (if there are such users left with current versions).

As has ben mentioned, you have a typo: console_transparent is correct.
And layout = kosaic matches the Kosaic backgrounds better

Hey, thanks for the hint about music, I'll check what's going on!

i dont know why but USB Loader Ultimate v7.4 is the only loader with ocarina that works with the game harvest moon tree of tranquility (U) (R84EE9) (using ocarina codes)

even Configurable USB Loader v21 fails to work with the message of "insert nunchuk or classic controller" after the put wrist strap image

Narolez, thanks for reporting this where belongs

ps sorry for my bad english

Hmm, is it known at which point has that been fixed?
I might take a look, when I get some more time
wink.gif

i've tested all the versions of ultimate usb loader, and the only 2 versions that works are v7.4 and v7.3
like i said before, all the others loaders simply doesnt work with harvest moon tree of tranquility and ocarina codes
i hope you can find the bug

ps sorry for my bad english

Brisma "solved" the need for using both 4:3 and 16:9 covers, his Loader only need 1 cover, and it resizes itself "kinda" if you switch between 4:3 and 16:9 (using settings).

Maybe take a peek in his source and see if it's something to add in CFG Loader?

I could add that, but, is it really such an issue?
I mean, you can easily download all needed covers from within the loader.
So, to me it looks like a useless feature, which is there just to add another check in the feature list

But, if it is really considered a useful feature I might add it anyway.

hi,

is there a Spindown Fix build in this loader?
My Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB USB external hard drive seems to be automatically spinning itself down after a period of inactivity, and causing the
USB loader to become unresponsive.

some background info:
All WD external hard drives will spin down (enter into power saver mode) after 10 minutes of drive inactivity. Once the drive is accessed again, the drive will exit from the power saver mode and spin back up.
To fix this problem you must read/write a piece of data to the drive every 9 minutes or so.

No, there's no such fix in this loader.
Is there any other loader that has such a fix?
If so, I could integrate it here.

@oggzee

Part I
Of course that feature is not really needed, but the following was why i thought about it:

Code:
4:3 TV's : 160x225 (everyone seems to agree this is the correct size to use, or 160x224)

16:9 TV's: 130x225 is used by NTSC-Wii owners, however PAL-Wii owners seems to like 120x225 size.

So if we ONLY have 160x225 covers on the SD-card, the loader itself can be with 2 options, edited to show the covers as: 160x225, 130x225 or 120x225, or ever smaller.

Part II
Another this I was looking at, the config.txt, counting all the possible options, so far 45 of them (might have missed something don't know).

What about a split up.

global.cfg, tv_4x3.cfg, tv_16x9.cfg

tv_4x3.cfg
Code:
layout =
buttons =
background =
console_coords =
cover_coords =
console_transparent =

tv_16x9.cfg
Code:
layout =
buttons =
wbackground =
wconsole_coords =
wcovers_coords =
console_transparent =

And of course maybe even more options in tv_4x3.cfg, tv_16x9.cfg from the complete list, making it almost as a "theme", that way its also easier for "theme-makers" to make sure correct settings are used with the background pictures etc etc.

I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
