I jailbroke my itouch 4G with abstinthe and i can no longer enable show battery percentage now? (because it isnt there anymore o-o) any help?

You could use SBSettings (Cydia app), scroll down to System Wide Options > System Options > Numeric Battery. I never noticed because this is where I turned the percentage on in the first place (3 month old iPod Touch).

After running Absinthe, you can still enable the battery percentage with redsn0w. Just proceed as usual, but uncheck "Install Cydia" (it's already installed!) and check "Enable battery percentage." redsn0w will show a warning that the 5.1.1 jailbreak is tethered, but your device will stay untethered.

On a side note, the guide now includes support for the iPhone 4 (GSM model)'s stealthy update on Friday (build 9B208).

Lol i didnt rejailbreak it with redsnow but just downloaded springtomize 2. Problem solved :P

Ok so Absinthe got me "jailbroken" but when do i do now? i have this "Absinthe" icon but no Cydia?

Looks like I might have to add (re-add?) a few more steps for iOS 5.0.1 and Absinthe.

While you connected to the Internet, simply tap on the Absinthe icon. After several seconds, your phone should reboot; if not, tap on the green "Jailbreak" button that momentarily appears. When your iPhone shows the lock screen, Absinthe is done.

EDIT: I added the extra steps and a video for Absinthe and iOS 5.0.1, if you want.

I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times and I apologize for asking. What is the best way to backup all my cydia and other jailbreak data while updating my iPhone to the latest firmware so I can redownload it all when its rebroken?

I updated to 5.1.1 and jailbroke successfully but there are some apps in Cydia that refuse to install because of me being on the latest update. Am I really gonna have to downgrade?

You might wind up having to downgrade if you really want that Cydia app/tweak. (That's pretty weird, though; the developer should've updated for 5.1.1 by now.)

Holy crap, that was too easy. I literally just pressed one button, waited for 20 minutes, and now I'm done.

Bravo Chronic-Devs, bravo. You do not disappoint.

I don't quite understand the caution in the beginning of the redsn0w 0.9.14b1 tutorial. :s
So, to me it basically says that once you get your iPhone jailbroken, it will update your baseband, and once your baseband it updated, unlocking your iPhone is prohibited.
And I kinda want unlocking to be possible..

So, is what I'm thinking correct? Or...

(yeah, I feel dumb right now)

That warning's there in case people might want to do something like upgrade from an ultrasn0w-compatible baseband. It really depends on the device you have though.

If you have an iPhone 3GS, you can use redsn0w with no problem. (You can install baseband 06.15.00 and then downgrade the baseband, all with redsn0w.) But if you have an iPhone 4, you need to restore with a custom IPSW to keep your baseband (remember that 01.59.00 is the only ultrasn0w-compatible version).

Why would people want to upgrade for an ultrasn0w-compatible baseband? Is it recommended?

If upgrading from the ultrasn0w-compatible baseband isn't really a must, and I don't consider using a custom firmware to keep my baseband. So, if I jailbreak my iPhone 4 with redsn0w,it would change the baseband to 01.59.00. But would that make my iPhone impossible to unlock?

Thanks a bunch !

There's no reason to upgrade from an ultrasn0w-compatible baseband to a non-compatible baseband, aside from possibly clearing any hacks from the iPhone. (You want a baseband that works with ultrasn0w for an unlock!)

If your iPhone 4 doesn't have baseband 01.59.00 on it, unfortunately you can't unlock it with ultrasn0w. It's not possible to downgrade to 01.59.00, either.

Hey guys,
I need some serious help over here. I don't know what to do..

My iphone 4s (for some unknown reason) got stuck at the apple boot screen after I restarted the phone. Is there anyway to kick it out of this screen without having to restore (I haven't backed up in a while, I honestly don't want to restore)
It might be cydia thing I installed, but the last thing I installed was 4 days ago.. So I can't imagine it being the problem..

redsn0w says it sees it in DFU mode but it is not supported? and ispirit shows that a blank screen. I'm not sure what else I can do.

Anything would help!
Thanks!

Unfortunately, your only option is to restore. redsn0w won't be much help (if at all) because the limera1n Exploit is blocked on the iPhone 4S.
