The only reason you wouldn't understand Plailect's guide is if you were literally dyslexic or had some kind of severe mental disability.
There is no reason to have a second one.
If you are dyslexic and have a severe mental disability, you won't understand this guide either.
Also I'm not being rude, I'm trying to prevent bricking people's 3DS and making people use outdated methods or software, because so far you haven't said anything about updating the guide.
Again, there is no point to this guide, and if there is, please tell me what it is.

Plailect's guide literally goes into full detail, which is much better to prevent bricks than your somewhat vague explanations. Don't be upset because someone links an already-well-known guide that has existed already and is, not trying to be rude, but it is much better than yours with it even going so far as to basically hold your hand through every step: from initially setting up homebrew, to downgrading and even troubleshooting for some common problems that can occure while going through this process.
I'm sorry you don't like to hear that. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean people are trying to be rude for saying the other guide is superior, because at this point it is and you are interpreting that as hate.
Jesus guys, it's just a guide. Why don't you find a worse guide (they crop up semi-frequently) and criticize its author? He just wrote it because he figured it may be useful to some others, not to become the next Plailect.

What is the point of this, when there's already the massively more in-depth and community tested guide by Plailect that's always kept up to date with new advancements in the scene?
https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

For anyone who comes here looking to mod their 3DS, I'd recommend just going with Plailect's guide. If you're only interested in using menuhax and emuNAND, stop at the end of part 3.
Hey, I'm stuck on that guide you mentioned. It direscted me to the 3DS guide thing, and now I'm stuck at a certain part. It's the final step.
"Step 17. Old 3DS and 2DS Only: Copy the Old 3DS 11.2.0-35 otherapp payload for your region to the /hblauncherloader/ folder on your SD card

Step 18. Old 3DS and 2DS Only:
Rename the Old 3DS 11.2.0-35 otherapp payload on your SD card to match your region:
  • EUR: OLD-11-4-0-37-EUR.bin
  • JPN: OLD-11-4-0-37-JPN.bin
  • KOR: OLD-11-4-0-37-KOR.bin
  • USA: OLD-11-4-0-37-USA.bin"

Now I understand what it's asking to a point. I just don't know if I should download the "Old 3DS 11.2.0-35" otherapp payload, or the 9.2.0.20U/whatever original version I started this with(I think it's that one...). Would it hurt me to use the 11.2.0.35 payload if I started this with the 9.2.0.20U firmware? Please help... I'm trying to finish this ASAP. Also, where else would I ask about this to where a lot of people would answer back rather quickly?

wew this is an old post to dig up, just to ask a question

You'll probably find better luck here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?threads/359035/

I'd tell ya what to do, but, I know next to nothing about the homebrew launcher, much less the otherapp, so...

Thanks so much! I'm relatively new to the 3DS Hacking scene, so any help is amazing!

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    It's always worth a shot
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
