assuming that by standard slimline ds you mean a DS lite, yes you can use it just fine

Most definitely. It works with DS Phat, DS Lite, DSi, & DSi XL.

Acekard 2i works with all DS models, without flashing it'll work on DS phat, DS lite, DSi 1.3.
With flashing it'll work on everything, DSi 1.4 and DSi XL 1.4.
