Have a look at a spec sheet if your interested in specifics, the 1st iPhone was called the iPhone 2g and is no longer supported by apple, meaning no updates or fixes should anything go wrong

The 4s is quite a bit more capable than the first one. In fact many apps and things you try to do on the first one nowadays won't run or will run slow/laggy.
