God forbid anyone ever criticize someone who is doing something for free.

So, don't complain about those kiddy fiddlers in the church, because you've never gotten a bill from them before either. /sarcasm

It's a fucking ridiculous concept.

Sycophants United FTW!1!!

BTW, I'm not complaining, but I do find it fucking ridiculous the number of times we've heard from apparent beta testers, over and over, that this release would work perfectly with TriiForce, only to have that turn out to be perfectly untrue. Dropping the ball like that is what, a non-failure? 'Fail' is simply one person's choice of word for the situation. Using it or not using it doesn't change any of the facts they also stated when choosing to do so. Choosing to ignore those facts, for whatever reason, says more about you than does someone's choice to use that word.

Was there anything 'broken' in the beta version (besides TriiForce actually working) that's preventing him from simply releasing that (or letting one of his testers do so if he doesn't have it because he's on vacation)?

For those comparing free and paid for software, what do you think the minimum amount charged has to be in order to allow someone to criticize your work without getting flamed or called ungrateful, just out of curiosity?

AND FOR ANY MORONS READING: No, the comparison above is not kiddy fiddling with making a mistake such as Wanin's, so don't even go there.

Hi Wiipower, can you explain your last paragraph a bit more in detail with some evidence? I'm not saying you're wrong, I am just interested how you arrived at that conclusion.

I don't really think you should flame/criticize anyone who isn't making malicious software at all. :-)

Too many people are making viruses and malware, so go criticize them.

People always say, "well if soandso didn't make this, someone else would just pick it up who knows what they're doing," which is totally unprovable.

In fact, the only proof we have about this stuff: Waninkoko FIRST. Waninkoko still working on it.

So definitely, the minimum amount, is the amount of money his free product potentially saves you....that's a good minimum...if you can play your "backup" SSBB after your original is scratched....that's about a $25-30 value...if you have 30 pirated games on a WBFS drive that you actually play and enjoy...thats $600 for you before you start bitching. If it does nothing for you at all, then you're a bitch just for trying to involve yourself in the conversation.

I've been using uloader for the last year and everything i have thrown at it seems to work with 222/223/224.

As uloader looks like it wont be updated in the future I have been trying cfg loader and installed cIOSx rev 20 249 - 56 and 250 - 37.

When I try to boot any recent game with either 249 or 250 it just hangs...if I use 222 or 223 then it boots fine.

Wii is 3.2E with cyclowiz chip

Any ideas?

Cheers

Free or not, way too much drama over temporary setbacks.

In my opinion, everyone has a right to complain, and judge one another. But that's a two way street, so if your complaints are nothing but whiny b'ing, don't be surprised if you get slammed.

More to the point, I never really saw Waninkoko overhype any of his releases. I have seen his fanboys make copious amounts of posts and impending release announcements, but Wanin just twittered updates. Well that whole soccer thing can be seen as overhype, but I see it as a bit o'fun.

I am not a heavy Wii modder, and don't use sneek, triforce, or nand emulation in any form. I do use USB loading and Homebrew, and have never experienced problems using Wanin's latest cIOS. I even use Wanin's cIOS with USB Loader GX just fine - GX being another program that seems to get a lot of complaints, but that's for another thread.

Wanin's cIOS have had bugs, but like stated before, what else hasn't? Rev 20 is not completely broken, it works for the most part. Wanin is still churning away at it. There are alternative like Herme's cIOS. Where's all this strong passion coming from. Do you guys get this passionate over MS's patch Tuesdays? Afterall that out of cycle Icon vulnerability patch.....Where's the rants on that....sheesh

Sidenote: Anyone get the easter egg yet? Wanin's egging us on via twitter

Maybe it's also my fault a bit, because I have been giving a lot of hopes to all Triiforce users with my latest posts saying that rev20 was going to fix NAND emulation.
In fact, I can assure that the old betas from March of rev20 had NAND emulation working perfectly, even with some improvements like more speed or new features like NAND semi-emulation.
But I'm not an 'oficial' Waninkoko betatester. I just did some tests for him in March.
As far as I know, his betatesters told him that NAND emulation was working with the RC of rev20, and for that reason he released it. But it seems that they were wrong or they did not do the tests.

Anyway, we will have to wait for rev21. And I before rev21 is released, maybe there will be another surprise related to NAND emulation.

So, does someone has a recommened base / slot list?
I personally installed cIOSx Rev 20 using the following base slot combinations:
  • Base IOS 57 as 249 - Faster USB Loading
  • Base IOS 37 as 250 - RB / GH Instrument Support.
If you're using older homebrew utilities that need it, like Wanin's Wad Manager 1.5 or earlier, you can install cIOSx Rev 20 using Base IOS 38 into 250. What you install the cIOS as (IOS slot) doesn't really matter just as long as you are aware of where all of your homebrew is either setup to or expects to see particular variations. But don't install any cIOS as anything below 200 as a good rule of thumb to prevent conflicts with official Nintendo IOSes.

common theory is that IOS56 can be used as a base and includes everything in 57 and 37. seems to work so far.
57 and 37 certainly works just fine though, 56 is just a bit more convenient.

You are a complete fail for posting!!! I doubt he spent much time at all on the easter egg. Imagine if he never entered the wii scene .... there probably wouldn't even be a usb loader available.
Most of his delay with the whole spanish soccer win baloney was him trying to buy more time to perfect an easter egg. Keep in mind he has been posting about it for some time so that was obviously his true focus, and more evident that he forgot to include some of his updated modules and there was even a hang bug in the installer. He failed with this update in a big way and he already knows it hence his twitter apology.
completely free software had a bug upon release? OH THE HUGE MANATEE!
paid apps, hey, have all the bugs you want, patch it later. but if I'm getting something for free I expect it to be PERFECT.
What I expect is if someone is going to hype up some major release and have the resources of many beta testers that the person wont go and waste his focus on some stupid easter egg and fumble the rest of what his motive was. Come one, just admit it, it was a fail. All mistakes are forgivable. The rest of what he has done has been good, but this one was a fail no matter how you look at it.
Tom, you're the biggest dickhead i have ever seen in history. Screw youself cause you didn't contributed anything to this scene and complaning on a product you could never have developed, cause you're to stupid.

Well Tom, how about you pay Wainkoko to do the job then? Wainkoko released his software for free. No one here is paying Wainkoko to do this. He can do anything he wants with his software. If you have problems with his release then don't use it. Stop bashing people or call them "fail".

IOS56:
+ Fast loading, supports most games, supports most intruments, maybe better SDHC support than IOS3x(which i don't care, just forget using sdhc on wii!)
- Seems to not support 1 mic in one music game, network issues in Monster Hunter Tri
IOS37:
+ Should support all games
- Slower than IOS56
IOS57:
+ Fast, seems to support that one mic for that one music game, maybe better SDHC support support than IOS3x(which i don't care, just forget using sdhc on wii!)
- Doesn't support Monster Hunter Tri, no other instrument support, only mics

I personally go for IOS56, because i don't use wifi at my Wii. If you use wifi, it depends if you want MH3 and/or music games or not.

I wouldn't pay waninkoko to do anything. I dont even use any cIOS's because I have no need to play backups. All my original retail games still work perfectly fine. And I wasn't calling waninkoko a fail, I was calling cIOSX rev20 a fail. Others have already agreed with my thoughts on this thread.

There was only about 15 games for the wii that interested me and I bought them all easily with one paycheck. I have to need for backups or to pirate anything.

I played Monster Hunter Tri with 56 as base yesterday and didnt seem to have any wifi issues
