Hi there,

I saw a couple of games releases for use with the new Gateway firmware but before I do something foolish could someone explain a bit what we should do and what we should be careful about.

For instance, I read : 'Install the CIA files, patch the checks and Here We Go'... What's left for us to do as an end-user ?

Thanks.

Nice seeing DLCs coming up :)

Just wanting to understand how cia files will impact what we are doing nowadays (if any impact at all). I'm nt quite sure I understand what those stand for and what the 2.6b release brings us (the non tech guys/old farts ... whatever one wants to name the like me)

You get to install games to your emunand and can play them without the gateway inserted. The free Rom loader that finally got released has them sweating and they're trying to compete.

yet, I still do not see how that's something worthy of interest for Gateway owners (pardon my ignorance).
You get the games on your home menu instead of the gw launcher, and the games don't take up space on the sd

Now I see. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll be trying this when back from work (though I have plenty of extra space on my SD).

I would like to set up DevMenu, but I have some questions and concerns (mainly relating to possible future system transfers):

1. If I do a system transfer to my >4.5 3DS, will the titles installed with DevMenu be transferred too?

2. If there is a way to disable signature checks and install full kernel mode CFW (without Gateway's restrictions, unless this update got rid of those), then do a system transfer without the >4.5 receiving 3DS getting bricked?

3. Does DevMenu also allow us to back up system titles from the NAND in .cia files?

4. If the answers to questions 1., 2., and 3. are all yes, then can CFW be a possibility for the receiving >4.5 3DS? Could I make a .cia file of my 4.1 System Settings and install it on the receiving >4.5 3DS (without overwriting the 9.x System Settings) to make it compatible with Gateway?

5. If the answer to question 1. is yes, then will transferring titles from a different region result in a brick for the receiving >4.5 3DS?

If anyone with a >4.5 3DS with a NAND hardmod, a Gateway card, and a <4.5 3DS with a new emuNAND backup created for testing will test these out and share the results, that will be immensely appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Well, I finally got home (darn traffic) and updated to 2.6b. Then copied a couple of .cia files onto the Gateway's micro sd card but I don't see anything new :(
A nice little tutorial for newbs like me would be nice.

So how do you use the .cia files with the new Gateway update ? I started the Gateway GUI menu but nothing has changed there either.

Thanks.

Going to bed now as my cold is getting worse :(

you need to use devmenu,
its an SDK dev app.
search for it on google, cause it's a rom.

All right, thanks. I downloaded that Devmenu app (in my case a rar file holding folders named SDK-0.14.15 to SDK-6.2.0).

Now what ?

Please could someone write a detailed explanation/tutorial for noobs so that we don't have to ask one question each time ?

Many thanks indeed.

Did a little testing and here's what I have come up to. Please tell me if I screwed up somewhere.

1. Installed BigBlueMenu.3ds to Gateway's microsd card
2. Copied BigBlueMenu.cia to the internal SD Card
3. Renamed DevMenu.cia to DevMenu.3ds (from the SDK-6.2.0 folder - SDK.DevKit.Tools.3DSWare.3DS.INTERNAL-BigBlueBox) and copied it to the Gateway's microsd card
4. Copied bbb-m-abep.cia and bbb-p-abep.cia to the internal SD Card
5. Booted into EmuNand
6. Launched BigBlueMenu (called Title Manager) and browsed to the bbb-m-abep.cia and bbb-p-abep.cia files and somehow installed them

Results: New Super Mario Bros 2 seems to be working fine (appears in the 3ds 'normal' menu).

Odd results: In the Gateway game menu, I have both Title Manager and another blank icon that I cannot launch (Could it be the DevMenu.3ds file that I got from the SDK-6.2.0 folder ?)
I believe I have read somewhere that it's the DevMenu.csu file from the SDK-2.3.4 folder that shoudl be renamed to DevMenu.3ds, so I guess I'm gonna try that.

Please let me know if my reasonning if wrong.

Thanks

yeah you cant just rename a .cia file to .3ds, you cant use the 6.2 dev menu from the leaked SDK files, but thats what the bigbluemenu is, they just changed the banner

Hi, hope you can help me, i installed everything like it is explained here, but there is no DLC for New Super Mario Bros. 2 avilable/visible. Game installation an DLC installtion runs without any problems and i can play the game directly from the menu in Gateway mode. But there seems to be no DLC. What's wrong?
Thx alot!

Both the game and dlc need to match your systems region.
