or was the c&d on the original a fake designed to create publicity and allow them to pull the rom to release it later (as flames of eternity) without the public bitching and annoying them for updates and things they wanted in the hack? =P

i love my conspiracy theories.

So no C+D on this, but it's all fine and dandy when it happens to Chrimson Echoes

I can assure you, theRubyDragoons are a separate team from Kajar Labs. If you want a full run down of events and all that which happened between the two teams, PM me.

I don't know if the C&D is real or not, but I can tell you that ZeaLity of the Chrono Compendium loves his theatrics and loves to be the center of attention.
I can tell you that the resulting publicity from it is what ZeaLity really enjoyed.

Oh, well since you're here, at what point do the games start to differentiate?

Some of these below are SPOILERS!!! Do not read this list if you don't want the game spoiled!!
1) Glenn is human

2) There are no "dev team NPC's" in the game.

3) Agent 12 is Agent 86 in Flames of Eternity - Agent 12 is a Kajar Labs dev member, who wrote himself into the game as a major NPC and integral to the story, we went and made him sound extremely silly to add a touch of much needed humor to the game.

4) We have 3 different endings to the game, the one main ending, and two accessible in a New Game+; the third ending is extremely hard to find if you don't know where it is and the point in the game to get it. Crimson Echoes had 1 ending and an 'ending scene selector'.

5) Kino is needlessly killed off in Crimson Echoes. We keep Kino alive and show just how bored Ayla and He are in the prehistoric era, i.e. they have 2 kids!

6) The Ayla/Frog love subplot is gone. Crimson Echoes has a rather unneeded Ayla/Frog love subplot that makes that area of the game feel like a hokey afterschool special.

7) Crono no longer murders two innocent reptites upon finding Marle's remains. In Crimson Echoes, Crono goes completely out of character and slays two innocent reptites.

8) Glenn now has a professionally written 'Ye Olde English' accent. Why? Most of the RubyDragoons grew up playing Chrono Trigger on the SNES, and we loved his accent, so we carried it over as best as we can.

9) Removal of show stopping bugs left over from the Kajar Labs team. These were too numerous to count, but they have been fixxed

10) A Secret Final boss was added in for Flames of Eternity, and you can fight it by finding the other two endings.
End Spoliers!

Those are the changes.

As well as numerous dialogue fixes that we can't remember, sooo damn much of them.

In that case I might give it a try after I'm done with the supposedly 98% done CE patch (I'm still not sure if it's legit or not).

Can anyone point me in right direction(via pm)? Can't seem to get this to work.
What's the problem?

Make sure you removed the header before you patch the rom.
How would I do this(via hexedit?) and which part is the header?
Use this:
http://www.romhacking.net/utils/593/
It won't let me remove header(it's greyed out) and I don't know what to do with split files when I choose the last option(SwapBin).

What happens when you patch it regularly?

So overall would u say Flames of Eternity is a more complete experience than Crimson Echoes? I havent started either and they are very similar from what I understand so there is no point in playing both right?

I dont wanna say one is better than the other but since they offer similar experience and FoE seems to have more things to do is there any advantage to playing CE?

CE has too many game breaking bugs (battle freezing, glitches, etc) and development has stopped long ago.

Not really, they have their differences and differentiate the further you get into the game. This is because FoE was created before the 98% patch was released (though it's possible they used the walkthrough). so I wouldn't say a more complete experience but a similar yet rather different experience.

There were 3 different versions of FoE based upon the 3 different versions of the CE hack we got our hands on. The current incarnation of FoE is the third version, which is based on the 98% CE leak.

So our version has all of the bugs fixed (that we could find/informed of) and none of the hokey CE bits. (See my previous post outlining the differences between CE and FoE)
