Chrono Trigger: Flames of Eternity IPS Patch
Rom Hacking
Flames%20of%20EternityDebug3.png

After news was posted that a build of Chrono Trigger: Flames of Eternity had been released, the head of the project got in contact with me. We had a brief conversation which resulted in an IPS patch and some more information on the project. Be sure to read the included readme for more information on which ROM can be patched.

The hack is a means to try and finish and provide, in a playable form, what was shown in the CE play through videos to a point. We also went ahead and reworked some of the story line and added in the working human glenn sprites. Also, one of the team members went and coded an MP3 injector program for use with Chrono Trigger ROMS and ZSNES so that you can get a true MP3 quality sound track with the game (the injector is called CTM).

We used Temporal Flux mainly to make changes to the hack. I gathered the ruby dragoons together because of my love for Chrono Trigger, and wanting to provide an enjoyable true sequel to the fans. As I feel that the game belongs to the fans, and this hack is made by fans for the fans.

So this basically, Crimson Echoes? Is it complete?

It still has some bugs, and I've seen at least one thing I think isn't supposed to be there, but so far it's been fairly complete. Granted I'm only a few hours in though.

will this work on snes9x GX?

my understanding is that the hack was designed with snes9x in mind. it works fine on the unofficial update of the scds2 port by bassacegold. i'm sure it will work on the gamecube and wii ports as well. most of the snes9x ports i have come across have a similiar compatibility, its always been a great way to figure out which version of snes9x was ported.

UH OH.

lets hope SE doesn't become an even MORE flaming asshole and Cease and Desist THIS ONE TOO.

what they did was UNFORGIVABLE.

I have the 98% Complete game that was leaked that was even removed from Torrents, where you play as Magus in the beginning

but the difficulty the game was set at is impossible

is this pretty much

Chrono Trigger : Crimson Echoes - Revived?

Wait this is CE revived? That's great news! I've been living under a rock for a year so excuse my latency.

edit: Last I heard of it was about a year ago

It does, but I HAVE noticed a few sound glitches. They aren't major, just a little annoying sometimes. I'm not sure if it's the emulator or not, but I didn't notice them on BAGSFC (on the DSTwo).

The link to Lunar is an old version. There is a new version out. 1.02.

Unless this patch will only work for 1.01.... Maybe that was the reason?

You will also need a program to remove the headers of your ROM in order to apply the patch.

Of all the Chrono projects, I wish this one had of made it the most though...

For those who want to play this on the SNES Emulator on PSP, turn on "Fix HiRes hidden details" in the hack/debug menu, otherwise you get black screens in the menu

Also turn frameskip to 1 or 2 because battles are a bit laggy
