It's actually not all turn-based.

It's part real-time as well. Nothing like Final Fantasy, if you choose the Active option of course.

You can't just stand there all day long, you're gonna get your ass handed to you if you do.

Active is for MANLY men.

Yep.

I tried Turn-based Chrono Trigger, but it just doesn't feel the same.

Basically, the enemy will kick your ass regardless if you're ready or not.

ex: making decisions and waiting for your speed bar to fill up. they'll kick your ass regardless.

Turn based basically makes it so everyone gets a turn depending on how fast your speed bar refills, and the enemy will wait for you to finish what you're doing as well.

Active - Awesome, action packed battles.

Wait/Turn - Final Fantasy battles. (Not saying FF sucks...)

Ok, I tried using SNEmulDS, both 0.5b and 0.6a to play this game. With both, there are major problems with the text boxes, with a portion of the text on top being cut off, and some colour problems. There is also some lag time between battles. Also, it hanged up after I visited that area in Guardia Forest (1000AD) with the sealed box and went to fight some Hetakes. Other than that its fine. Are these normal? Any way to solve these problems?

0.6a has the nicer GUI, so that's a bout it.

Yep, the text will do that. The text will always have part of it cut off, but I'm sure you can make it out. The colors are messed up too. In caves, your text will most likely be red. You can't fix this, but hey, it's worth it for Portable Chrono Trigger.

Lag time between battles? Hmm.. Like what, a loading time type of thing?

Yeah, sometimes the game will crash on you for no apparent reason. It's EXTREMELY rare though. I've only have it happen to me 2 times and I'm 70% through the game. The tip is, the wait like 2 seconds before you enter an area, because it needs to catch up with itself... At least that's what prevented it from ever happening again.

What are you guys' general settings for playing most of the game? default?

Yep. Default works the best for most EVERYTHING.

Alright, if you're in Truce Canyon, you won't be able to see the bridges/ropes in Default settings. Go to options in 0.6a, and tap the "Config" in the upper right corner. (Sorry forgot the exact name) Then you uncheck "Automatic Ordering". You see a down arrow, now tap down on it until everything is fixed.

Although that fixes Truce Canyon, it messes up outside areas, so just recheck "Automatic Ordering" to make it back to normal.

For the Magus Fight, just follow the same instructions above. You won't be able to see the BG, but you see the sprites. If you want to see the BG, you have to get rid of the sprites.

Although, the place you fight Magus at does flash at times.

In Lucca's House there are some transparency issues in one of the rooms with the clouds/mist. How do you go about fixing this for future rooms in CT apart from removing layer 2 or 3?

I find it hard to play due to the Text. But this thread and even turning the game on is making me want to hook up the Playstation and start where I left off. Which would be to get other endings as I think I have 2.

It's really not that hard to make out the text.

It is not the fact I can't read it, I just rather a clean finish. I am kind of picky when it comes to that. But this topic and the talk about the game is making me take out the old copy and get all the endings which I have been meaning to do for the past... Well a while. But I do

I tried to play it on DS, but the little graphical errors (menu, text), and slowdown just bug me. Yea, I'm picky I know, it just doesn't feel right. Instead, I've been playing it on PSP. The graphics and such are pretty much perfect, but there's still a bit of slowdown. But, aside from playing the real cart, or a PC based emulator, I suppose this is as good as it gets. I also still have quite a few endings to see.
