Sorry to hear that,

Tho I am not sure how you managed to nuke you're SD. I used the same exact method (on both mine and a friends flash cart) and both worked 100% fine.

Did you use a non-trimmed rom? or did you have more then just the Chrono Trigger.nds rom in the patcher folder?

I modified the "run this..." batch file to only work on chronotrigger.nds ( making a backup, chronotriggerORIGINAL.nds first ).

I read on another thread ( I think on gbatemp ) about another guy having a similar "nuke" of his DSTT.

hmm. I am not sure why it would of nuked you're SD card. Tho I did not modify anything when I got the patcher. I just put my rom (after renaming it to original) into the patcher folder then ran the patcher .bat file and it worked just fine.

If you want to you can PM me you're email address and we can get it all sorted out for you. or If you have AIM you can PM me you're screen name and I will help you out via that.

The chrono trigger patch that's floating around is definitely known to consistantly corrupt memory cards when the patched rom is run on a DSTT. Keep this in mind when you're telling people to use it, or how to use it.

LOL, OK, well there should definitely be a warning for TT users.

Has it been shown to work on any TT's?

At a minimum, back up your SAV files prior to trying to patched game.

All I know is that I've seen several reports of complete memory card corruption when using the patched rom on the DSTT. I don't keep up with what works on the DSTT and what doesn't, so I can't say if the patch ever works.

I keep telling people to forget about the patch and just use the damn codes (how much easier could it get?), but everyone keeps going on about the patch, and asking if the codes work with the patch, and asking how to use the patched rom because it won't load on their cycloDS etc., etc.

Actually, I'm not sure if the codes are safe for use on the DSTT. I haven't seen any reports of the codes doing any damage, but I generally skip over DSTT stuff unless it looks like a horror story.

I got this, ran it, and put the modified NDS onto my DSTT.

I went to boot the game, got two white screens, and now my memory card has been nuked.

(I'm able to reformat the card... shoulda backed up my SAVs before doing this. Stupid me. )

Ok, stupid noob question: same thing happened to me, but I don't know how to recover my card. I'm using a Kingston 2G Micro. I just need to know how to format the card so that my DSTT can read it again.

Any info would help.

Thanks.

Plug it into the computer, right click on it, click "format".

I tried that , but to no avail. Sadly, looks like I'll be shelling out the cash for a new card.

Funny thing is, I don't recall telling anyone to use it...please let me know where I made a post saying "HEY EVERYBODY USE THIS PATCH RIGHT NOW!!!"

yeah....never said that. I asked a question if I could trim my rom after patching, and someone asked me how I patched so I told him how I patched my rom.

So once again to clearify this again, he asked and I told him how I WENT ABOUT PATCHING

and btw, what is the DSTT anyway? I personally have an M3DS Real and it worked just fine for me using my M3DS Real.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, I didn't accuse you of anything. I didn't care enough to see if you had recommended it to anyone or not, and I still don't. Even if you did, I'm sure you didn't know about the problem at the time. That's all beside the point. You know now that the patch can corrupt memory cards, so don't forget to mention it in the future if you're telling someone about the patch or how to use it.

DSTT = DS Top Toy. It's the bottom line super cheap flashcart that everyone buys because it's cheap. I think they're about $3.50 at DealExtreme.com.

Good tip, but I'm taking a train trip in two days, so I'll just got to RadioShack (argh) and overpay so that I can have my wonderful DS games to pass the time.

lol @ $3.50 Flashcart...yeah I wonder how good that thing is

Yeah thanks for the heads up tho, I will be sure to warn people about the problems with the patch and the disposable flash cart, lol.

Generally speaking tho, if you paid more for the Micro SD then the Flashcart what do you really expect the quality of it to be.

The M3 Real was worth every penny of the $109 I paid for it (got it in a bundle with (2) 2gig Micro SD and the Ruble RAM pak).

I guess I will remove the patcher from my sig tho and just get the codes for people that need them, better safe then sorry.

Does the patch that you provide translate this game into English right? Because when I patched it, the CycloDS wouldn't bring up the cheats and it gives me two white screens since it somehow is detected as a different game. Is this meant for other flashcarts besides CycloDS?

The patch is meant for flashcarts that don't support cheats at all. Use the clean rom and you will be able to use the cheats. The codes that remove the copy protection are included in the cheat database, so if you can use cheats at all, you don't need the patch. At all.

The game is already in English, there is no language patch. If your DS is set to any language other than Japanese it will default to English. If your DS is set to Japanese you will need to go into the settings in the game and change the language to English.

I recently added cheats so you can force the game to be in English or Japanese no matter what language the DS is set to

You're best bet is gonna be to listen to Destructobot and just get the cheats to remove the anti-piracy coding.

Everyone just forget about the patch, in fact there never was a patch, it was all a myth....

....just like bigfoot, nessie, and black Michael Jackson

Narin, Always so helpful you are. Way to be ahead of the game.

and BTW - You're Cheat Database rocks. +1 Cookie for you sir.

It's an easy change to get it into English, if you're so inclined. It's amazing though - I'm playing in Japanese and if I don't understand something I can change to English. It's nuts.
