looks like, checkpoint doesnt like mac OS. Tried it with mac, save wouldnt appear. no issue found with windows

Does Checkpoint work with NDS gamecarts? It recognizes them but whenever i try to export saves it just gets stuck at 0%, same goes with FBI save export and I'm fairly certain that JKSM doesn't support NDS gamecarts (Platinum doesn't come up)

Yes it does. Backing up Pokemon Platinum save worked for me (and some other DS-games).

Strange, I'll need to look through it more because like I said, 3ds freezes upon export.
Are you using a very old version of Checkpoint? It should definitely work:
readme.md; Checkpoint Github page said:
Checkpoint for 3DS natively supports 3DS and DS cartridges, digital standard titles and demo titles.
Update to the latest version if yours is old. Then try backing up save data from:
  • an installed title
  • a 3DS cartridge
  • another DS cartridge
Is your cartridge and the gamecart reader okay? Can you play the game(s)?

My last idea: Something is wrong with the SD (filesystem and/or hardware).
  1. Backup all data from the SD
  2. reformat the SD (FAT32, 32kb cluster size) with e.g. Guiformat
  3. test the freshly formatted card with h2testw
  4. If the test shows no error, delete the test files and copy your data back onto the SD and try again. If any errors are shown replace the SD

Running Checkpoint v3.2.0 atm and tested a european lego starwars cart and an american explorers of sky cart. Both worked fine, so its probably to do with my cart itself

For some reason, installing the CIA doesn't work. I put the 3.5.0 version in the /cias folder, Install and Delete, and it says the process was a success. However, no software shows up at all. Nothing crashes or anything it's a shame if nothing was ever installed.
JKSM worked fine, so I don't think my N3DS is the problem.

Do you have more than 300 titles installed? The Home Menu can't show more than 300. Open in the title list in FBI. If it is installed you should be able to launch the title with FBI. Or you can put the 3dsx version into SD:/3DS and start Checkpoint with the Homebrew Launcher.

That might be the answer - I have less than 30 things in my Home Menu, but I kept waiting for the "New software has been added" message that comes with, from what I know, every CIA. If the title is itself in FBI, then that should be the problem.

There is any possibility to backup saved data from original folder in 'Nintendo 3DS' folder without using the console 3ds on witch this data was saved? The console is broken and the last checkpoint save from Tomodachi Life won't work on the new console.

if you used this program it decrypts the save to use on another. The same as what jksm does. If the save dont work. Your likely not going to be able to use it.

If you are just trying to copy the save data off the SD card directly, then that won't work because the data on the SD card is encrypted.

If you have your moveable.sed, you can use fuse-3DS to decrypt the data on the SD card, and then unpack it using 3ds-save-tool. The resulting files can then be used with JKSM (ETA: or Checkpoint, of course) to restore the data on another console.

If you don't have your moveable.sed (or essential.exefs or a NAND backup), then you can still calculate it using another 3DS that has your broken 3DS in its Friends list.

Yes i have NAND backup but i don't have movable.sed and i don't know the friend code of the broken 3ds. I've tried to mount the SD from broken 3ds using fuse-3DS on my laptop but i need movable.sed

Your NAND backup also contains your moveable.sed. You can extract it by mounting your NAND backup in fuse-3DS. (It might be called moveable.bin, but it's the same thing.)

..Er, there's a bit of bad news about NAND mounting in fuse-3ds. It doesn't work if you don't have opt.bin or essential.exefs to extract opt.bin from to decrypt SysNAND/EmuNAND *.bin image. Supposedly, the n3DS series?? have these built in but the o3DS are definitely out of luck.

Now, if you backed up [ ctrtransfer_fat.bin / ctrtransfer_full.bin ], twln.bin, and twlp.bin, these could act has decrypted drop-ins for your SysNAND images.

(This really doesn't concern Checkpoint, so maybe this should be split off somewhere?)

Oh. I understood at least newer versions of godmode9 automatically embedded the necessary decryption information, but I suppose if this case concerned a newer version, then there would be an auto-generated essential.exefs somewhere.

Back to Plan B, I suppose?

i don't know the friend code of the broken 3ds
So you never shared it on a message board with anyone anywhere? Did you have anyone in your Friends list at all?

Yes i was able to mount NAND backup using fuse-3DS (NAND backup was made using godmode9 so i don't need opt.bin) i found movable.bin and i extract this in my hd. Then using fuse-3DS and the movable.bin i was able to mount Nintendo 3DS folder from SD card. Now i have to try some safe tools

Good! To be clear, Tomodachi Life has a Title ID of 000400000008C300 according to 3dsdb, so you'll find the save file in title\00040000\0008C300 . After you copy it to somewhere else on your hard drive, use 3ds-save-tool (specifically disa-extract.py) to unpack it.
