I expected to see a beutiful artwork just like your ava... but I was wrong.
The Squirtle part was done well but the charmander one was terrible.
Oh and when you picture your desktop always remember to:
Right click>View>(uncheck) view desktop icons.
It lets us see the image better.

I don't think it is that bad but could have been better.
 
it's good. only problem is the way you crop charmander.

@Lolcat, charmander looks like a stain in a shirt. very noticeable.

Biggest problem other than the cropping is the image difference. Charmander is drawn in the style from the early anime while the Squirtle is more of a painting style. If you could find a Charmander in a similar style then it would look beter.
 
You could have at least used images from the same time period, the shading is completely different. The cutting out of Charmander looks hastily done and with poor results, I suggest getting acquainted with the pen tool in Photoshop. The images could blend better into the background, maybe even with a little transparency.

Other than that, I like it.
 
Use your own background instead of someone else's. I doubt charmander and squirtle belong in a "Glacial Inferno".
