Cheats that require Buttons dont work

Had to create an acc after years with this mistery.

Back in 2010 had an R4 GOLD that sudendly die, all things worked before him dying.

Now with a R4I3D 2016, wood firmware, cheats that require button pressing simple dont work or just stay on forever.

Examples,
"Full HP" cheat always let the HP full, right

"Press L for points not to decrease, press R to set points to 0" , while on points dont decrease always dont matter what you press

"R+up to advance time", while on pressing buttons do nothing

Anyone have any insight on why this happen and how to fix if possible?

Wood firmware should have a reasonable cheat engine. If it was whatever was cobbled together from something for a third rate flash cart firmware then it might be an issue but Wood was made by people that very much knew what they were doing there.

Can we see the cheats? The main thing I might think was happening was the terminator for the loop (most button press cheats will once a frame check to see if the button is pressed and then go from there which means there will be the check, the payload and the terminator for the loop) was not working but that would be odd.

Let me give examples:

Shin megami tensei : devil survivor 1

Unwind the time
This just enable to to turn back time when we click in game the skip time button, so this work normally

Hold R Stats point never Decrease, Hold L Stats Point 0
This never let the points decrease, dont matter if i press R or L

Havest Moon: Sunshine Islands

Watering can always Full
its simple and works

Fast Foward Time (select + R)
Rewind time (Select + L)
These dont work at all

I meant the codes associated with them (will probably look like a long string of numbers and letters A through F

Your shoulder buttons do work right? They are usually the first buttons to go on any GBA-DS family device. Also checking you are using the right region for it (those cheats look to be for the North American versions of the Shin Megami game and )

Anyway those look like reasonable cheats on the face of them but I will have to drill down deeper later this evening (if someone else does not get there first).

Just tested the shoulder buttons because you can never be too sure, luckly i have one of those early sturdy models, this bad boy must be getting 20 years old soon.

About region, usrcheat.dat had all regions, i remember i got a pokemon whit(USA) and another (EU) for my ex so we could play on different saves and her game had different cheats.

Thanks for all the help, i got this new r4 long ago(maybe 2016) , i dont even need a fix i just need to understand whats happening because it always drove me crazy, everytime i try to get back to the DS i update the cheat database and the firmware and never got it working like de old R4, it drives me crazy everytime
