With the upcoming development with the Pretendo servers and the ability to use miiverse restored. I was testing out how to play the downgrades versions of SMM1 before Nintendo patched out miiverse ability. I’ve read about changing the version.bin number but to my desperation I cannot view the hex version of the file on any ftp client because I don’t know how. Nor would I know how to identify which title key it is and what values to change it for. Could anyone kindly guide me through the process for viewing the file, editing it in hex, and restoring it to a form the Wii u console can read? Thank you

You can find the title id's in the versions.bin. on the same line, it's iirc the 13 and 14 bytes you need to change. It uses the hex version obviously, but updates are based on the decimal version.

I think you might be able to get around the update by changing version to FF FF, which I think is 255.255. That way it won't nag about lower versions.

if you have a certain config tool that your not supposed to have. You should be able to use that to bypass the version
That's what I used to install all my content. Iirc, you can also install from any location.
