An eagle-eyed poster on the well-known NeoGaf forum, Legato8, angrily posted:

"Hey guys, the store text for Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 on the PSN says that "You must log into the Playstation Network each time to play this game." That sure sounds like the way they did the online-only Final Fight PSN, too."

Well, that's just great.
That's not right- you apologise for the Final Fight DRM then you release another game with it in there.

Why is this bad?

They get less pirates. Big deal.
It's bad for the people that don't pirate. I don't think people like the idea of signing in each time just to play one game.

If its online; fair enough. But offline?! Why?

At this rate if more developers adopt this DRM, the home consoles will die, nobody wants to put up with DRM like this.

I'm sure they wouldn't do this if they were making (are making?) an Xbox 360 version. Since Geohot hacked the ps3, companies want to protect their assets. Its understandable, but this kind of pointless DRM will entice more people to pirate it instead of buy it. The most ludicrous part of this is it doesn't even HAVE online play. I can see more of this DRM on the ps3 in the future, but not on the 360 or wii.

nope the ps3 has been completely split open allowing both homebrew and backup loaders and you don't even need 1 of them jailbreak devices and sony are mega pissed. their so pissed their trying to stomp out legal and consumer rights

It's really annoying that legitimate custormers are getting shit like this. For me, it means that I have to look for DRM in any game I buy. Needless to say, I won't buy games with DRM like this.

just buy it on disc? you are only punishing yourself buying the download, online downloads are always riddled with unfair DRM thats why i prefer buying the disc.
