I'm running a New 3DS on 9.0, using a gateway card, everything is working great up until I try to run Devmenu in Gateway SysNAND, when I run it, it says "The cartridge was removed, press the home button." I've tried Devmenu from a couple of different sources with the same problem.

I have followed the instructions on the Gateway site to the letter up until "run devmenu" which is where it all falls apart. Can anyone help me?

The to the letter part could be the problem due to gateways directions being sub par, all I can ask is did you put the devmenu.3ds file on your red card correct?

Yes, the devmenu file is on the red card, in the same place as all my games and bigbluemenu and such.

A lot of people have had this problem, some of them said to use the bigbluemenu to install the cia of devmenu to sysnand to get it to work properly. I hesitate to install that to the sysnand though.

If you google devmenu.3ds there is a youtube video, the link there worked for me.

Big Blue Menu tells me the .cia file is invalid.

Yeah that's what i did i think, renamed the file to devmenu.3ds as per the instructions in the tutorial i linked above, but it just tells me the card was removed and i need to press the home button.

I had this Problem too, when I tried to set up the mset exploit. I got devmenu to work by formating my complete sdcard (the one in the ds) and only putting launcher.dat and mset.CIA on it.

Still getting the exact same issue. I'm using an SD card without emuNAND, tried it leaving the SD card in normally, allowing the 3DS to create its home data stuff, it didn't work, still said the cartridge was removed, then i tried by starting Zelda, inserting the SD card while at the main menu, then continued to open the Gateway menu, starting sysNAND gateway mode, then removing the card again, and attempting to start devmenu (basically ensuring that there wasn't a single file on the SD card besides mset and launcher, not even files made by they 3DS itself) and it still gives the same error.

The one I mentioned didn't work?
Well, GW themselves say that running diagnostics test should fix some "game card removed" errors, so that might be worth trying.

Just ran a diagnostic test, these are the results:

FPGA: Fail
SPI: Fail
SPI Read Test: OK!
SD Test: Fail

Seems you were correct, put the gateway card and everything succeeded.

well, we know youre card works, if there was any doubt. but im just as stuck as you. i have had all the same problems as you. what to do....

Edit: doing some research i found this

3Dbrew said:
There are two known specialisations of the NCSD container format. The CTR Cart Image (CCI) format and the 3DS' raw NAND format. CCI is the format of game ROM images.
CTR System Update (CSU) is a variant of CCI, where the only difference is in the file extension. This is used with developer System Updates and associated Tools.
seems that cci and csu are similar, so i will also change the .cci file to a .3ds file and see if the reults change. who knows, it might.

Try going into Recovery Menu and clear any pending updates, not sure how is it done (haven't tried it myself). Might able to fix game card removed issue...?

http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Recovery_Mode

i do have a pending update i have been meaning to clear. will be on that when i decide to leave gateway mode (which would be when im forced out by devmenu.3ds crashing my 3ds)
