Hacking Cant get SXOS Switch to pair with Power A Gamecube controller

My switch is running 5.1.0 and has the most up to date version of sx os installed on it.

I have two PowerA Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch - GameCube Style

No matter what I do, I cant pair these controllers to my 5.1.0 SXOS Switch.

I dont want to update the switch to a newer firmware and risk losing access to sx os.

Updating the firmware to 6.2 for example also looks very complicated and I have no idea which firmware I should update to or how.

Does anyone have any suggestions? This is the controller I am asking about...

Do you have another switch to try to pair it with? I just used one for the first time at a friends, and he said to hold L and R to pair it, and that worked for me.

Updating the firmware is very very easy. Use ChoiDujourNX and update to 6.2.0. Why 6.2.0? Because it’s the last supported firmware by SX OS.
