Hacking Can't battle over WiFi

I can't battle/interact with people in my pal pad over wifi. We go into the wifi club and when we try to talk/battle each other, it never gets past the "communicating..." message.

This happened twice with two different friends. They both have the actual game and are not using a flashcard. I tried switching from my EU rom the the USA rom, and it still doesn't work.

Does WiFi work for anyone else? I'm using an Acekard 2i.
