Hi!

I chipped my Wii with WiiKey 2 - 3 years ago.
And now I want to BUY The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
Will I be able to play it on my wii?

My sister updated the Wii ½ a year ago. (You should not do that?).
I heard that Nintendo did something with the updates to newer games wont work. But I can play burned games as usuall.

We don't know what nintendo will do when Zelda will be out.

But most probably you will be able to play it in original without loosing your hacks.
just wait to be sure it doesn't contain a new firmware update.

You didn't tell how you are currently launching games.
USBloaders? Dump your original game disc to HDD, it will load faster, works with all Wii firmware version, preserve your laser lifetime.
Disc channel? Priiloader installed? disable update from disc, play the game as usual. Use HBC+GeckoOS, ModMii, any other tools, to install needed IOS if missing and launch the game from Wii menu.

Best choice is to wait for the release before asking.
We are not seeing the future yet.

The System Menu version doesn't matter for running discs, and never has. As long as the OP updates his IOS's he can run any game.

Do the new games -smg2, pes 2011, rock band 3, guitar hero 6- work on your modchip?
Im having this issue, new games wont be recognized by the modchip. (backups)
But i think your Wii will run it fine, since it has a popular modchip

It doesn't ask to update if the system menu is old but IOS are up to date?
(I'm talking without any priiloader hacks).

Of course if he has Priiloader update blocker then there's no problem at all, it won't ask to update and will run from disc Channel whatever IOS/system menu version he has.

I thought you were suggesting that an updated SM was required to run discs.

Without hacks to disable updates, Gecko OS, a modchip configured to block updates, or a disc with the update removed, it will require a SM update before letting you run.
