PS1/2 Can I burn cd-r playstation 1 games and play them on my ps2?

I know this is not the right forum but there are no forums or discussions about the ps1 or the ps2, so I'm posting this here.
I know that with a hack-cartridge like the old ps hacker v.2000 , you can play pirated cd-r discs on the ps1. My question is: "Is there a possible way to play custom cd-r ps1 games on a ps2"?

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me.

I had a hardmodded ps2 that claimed to be able to play burned psx discs, but I never managed to get it to work. I hear there is a method using "popstarter," that seems to have a great deal of success.

On my old hardmodded PS2, starting a PSX burned disc required holding down the Power button for a bit longer on boot

Huh. On my hardmodded PS2, it ran burned PS1 games just fine. I just popped the disc in, turned on the console and it booted fine.

My hard modded Phat PS2 plays burnt PS1 discs fine. Toxic Os is what i run on it. Had it almost 10 years and it still works great.

But as noted, you can using Popstarter with Freemcboot, should work without issue.
