Some HDDs actually do have problems functioning properly with the Wii.Why wouldn't it?
So it does work?2.5" Portable HDD's work fine. However Wii U doesn't provide enough power from a single USB Port to power the HDD. To fix this you need to get a USB Y Cable, So that the HDD is able to draw power from two USB Ports. You can also use an external AC Adapter to power the HDD as well, but only if the drive has connector for it.
I use a Western Digital 500GB 2.5" Portable HDD with USB Y Cable and have had zero issues with it.
Thank you!Yup. It does. This is a picture of my Wii U. I have the HDD attached to my Wii U with double sided tape and then you can see the USB Y Cable I'm using to provide enough power to the drive. Also the max size HDD you will want to get is 2TB.
I have your same model, btw you glue it on the console?Yup. It does. This is a picture of my Wii U. I have the HDD attached to my Wii U with double sided tape and then you can see the USB Y Cable I'm using to provide enough power to the drive. Also the max size HDD you will want to get is 2TB.
