Camcorder with camera or Camera with Video?

Ok. So for graduation (

) my cousin's gonna get me either a camera or a camcorder.
I was hoping fellow tempers could tell me which would be better.

I'm one of those people who like having all-in-one devices.
Digital cameras have superb photo quality + video recording capabilities.
Digital camcorders have HD video recording qualities + decent picture taking quality.

So which would be the better option to invest in?
I was looking at the Sony Webbie HD, iFlip HD, Samsung Dual View, and Nikons/Cybershots.

All help is appreciated and thanks everyone in advance.

if you take a lot of videos that arent just for fun the camcorder

if you take a lot of pictures you want to print etc the camera

Why not a nice DSLR that can do both? A bit on the expensive side if you want nice video shooting capabilities though.

I was thinking about DSLR's too until I saw the prices. I need something recession proof in the U.S.
And was really hoping for something portable, light, easy to carry, etc.

its always a good choice to stick with canon

you won't go any wrong with their camera or camcorder
their camcorder is always one of the best in town

the question always go back to BUDGET

whats your cousin's budget
with 500-600 USD you can always get some entry level DSLR + basic kit

Um... around $200 at the most i think?

Cannon is a good company, but they dont look as nice as Sony's and Nikkon's. And no DSLR's due to size and price.

I would say Camera with a Camcorder. I like pictures alot...but how often do you need video?
