I just tried to buy something on my 3ds with top screen removed. It says "please read information on top screen" so I click OK then it makes me input something. I didn't know what I was being told to input but the field was 8 characters long so I assumed it was my NNID password. So I do that and then it says "please read information on top screen" again! So I click OK again and I have to put in another thing! (once again 8 characters long) I was nervous at this point but I simply put in my password a second time and it worked. o.o

So I'm wondering what the top screen was saying during those two times. It's probably something really inane (like "please put in your NNID password" and "please put it in again") and definitely not important, but I'm just curious.

basically, you just set up the 8 character password that is needed when you go to purchase something on the 3DS when you ask it to save your payment info. from now on, you will not need to enter your CC number to buy a game, you will be asked for your 8 character password instead.

quote from Nintendo's site
    1. Select "Yes"or "No" to store the credit-card information.
If Yes is selected:
      1. Using the touch screen, enter a four-to-eight character password and tap "OK."
      2. Re-enter the same four-to-eight character password and tap "OK."

Thanks. Although Id rather not have my CC info saved on my account.

its not a big deal, but I might as well try and remove it, just to see how well that goes

I am positive the Credit Card info is stored locally on the 3DS and not with Nintendo. if I am incorrect, the info should still be safe in their hands as Nintendo normally does not get attacked by hackers trying to steal payment info.
