Hacking buying another acekard from dealextreme just wanna confirm something,

Ok, since my Acekard is officially dead, i figure I should get a new one. However, I remember hearing that the Acekard2i has more features. Is that true? if so, what are they? and although I'm fairly certain it can work on the ds lite, it's good to ask, can it work on the ds lite?

Also, since i'm gonna be buying something from dealextreme, i figure it's time to try and get a new usb sdcard reader thing. My old one I bought from futureshop from about 4-5 years ago can still read things but it always thinks that the sd card is locked, even when it's very clear to me that it isn't. Now i've tried to buy one of usb sd card reader from dealextreme before. Here is the one I got:

I got it on 2 seperate occasions ordering 2 on each occasion, that's 4 altogether. Out of all 4, none of them worked. So I wanna buy a different one, any recommendations?

the ak2i has a poor build quality
the ak2i has msd slot/seat/spring issues
the ak2i has connection issues

i don't consider those features but they are different from the 2.1 =P

get a kingston msd reader. i own a few of them. they are sweet as hell, always work, etc. you can get them from meritline for $5.

wow, didn't know it had those problems. Are you sure? this is the first time i've heard these negatives. If they are true then i guess I'll just get a regular acekard2. Can anyone confirm?

I guess I'll try out that kingston msd reader, thx for the suggestion.

Edit* Can the kingston msd reader read sd cards or just micro sd's? I want something that can read sd cards.

I don't have any of those issues and I am running on a DS lite. No spring issues my Spring is wonderful no connection issues my games never freeze. And I dropped my Acekard 2i a lot of times still works and didn't brake.

Well if it doesn't have any advantages, i'm still getting a regular acekard2, since i'll be playing on a ds lite, not a dsi. So by what your saying, it's basically on par with the acekard2 in terms of what it can do with the ds lite. Thx anyways.

I just bought one, received it yesterday, it's my first one, but I can't get it to work. The spring works fine, but all i get is 2 black screens. (Again, could be me, first timer and all, but yeah, AK2i from dealextreme)

ya, it sounds like the acekard is working fine, you just need to put the proper firmware in it the right way. I would help you but i kinda forgot what you will need to do, sry bout that. Good luck getting it to work tho.

so only one suggestion for the usb thing? Need more than that people, i want options. The usb I want is one that holds sd cards.

I've bought about 7 AK2i carts from dealextreme -- i've only had one bad one out of the bunch, and dealextreme replaced it for me. Took a little long, but not too bad considering it was free shipping from HK.

Last I checked, it was about $12 -- to me, $12 was a no brainer. I spent over $100 on a GBA flash cart back in the day -- $12 is practically nothing. If you end up not liking the AK2i, just purchase a different card and sell that one to a friend/co-worker/schoolmate/little brother/etc...

They are great. Has that little safety cover for your card, no worries of accidentally snapping off jutting readers/MicroSDs.
(I personally nearly broke the reader that comes with the R4 on the side of my laptop
