Dang...

Well, I don't know where this came from or how I didn't find these before, but the 3in1s are apparently in stock over at RealHotStuff. I might order two for english copies of Mother 3 and Rhythm Tengoku.

I have a quick question for those who would know: would it be better to purchase the 3in1 or a IV if I am only interested in making, for example, a Mother 3-only cartridge?

EZ-Flash IV is the best GBA flashcart.
This shop in spain still has it in stock (it seems) and it´s rather cheap too:

Listed as official reseller at http://www.ezflash.cn/dealers/.

When you get it, install this skin and you are prefect to go. ;)

DSFlash no longer has got EZ Flash IV, however I did bought three of them when they were in stock :)

Well EZ 4 works on GBAs and DS so I would go for EZ 4, also who the hell buys a flashcard for a game only?

nowadays 3 in 1 can be found in lite form only meaning you can't use it on gba, gba sp, gameboy player and ds fat, only in ds lite unless you do some major cartridge cutting. i would go with a full sized 3 in 1 if you can find one or an ez flash iv.

Oops, sorry. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete that.

As I understand it, you can modify a junk GBA cartridge and insert a 3in1, and I don't mind modifying a cartridge. Should I just do that considering it's cheaper than a IV?

The flashcard can't be modified to act like a genuine cartridge outside of the box, you can however flash the game on NOR.

Which would eliminate the flashcard's boot screen, right? Basically changing the flashcard into a single-game cartridge.

he means get a cheap junk game like on ebay
open it and remove the pcb
and insert the ez-flash 3-in-1 pcb so it fits in a gba since its hard to find full size gba case for the 3-in-1

No, its still a flashcard and it still shows the menu, why do you want to buy a flashcard for a game anyways? I'm a mother 3 fan as well but I didn't bought the game SOLELY for Mother 3.

I'd like to create a custom cartridge with a label, box, etc. for a few Japanese-only games. I don't know, it'd feel more "authentic."
