Apple Broken iphone 3GS, retrieve data?

I recently dropped my phone 3GS, after which my screen didn't show anything. It only shows a greenish screen after plugging it in the wall.I went to someone who could repair it but he said that the problem is in my motherboard and repairs are too expensive.

I wondered if there's a way to retrieve the data (agenda, contacts) by reading he chips or something like that, any help would be apprecieted!

Well frankly speaking it doesn't sound like a motherboard problem at ALL.

If its even a motherboard failure why would there be a greenish thing?

All of that info would be in your iTunes backup of the phone.
