System Menu 4.1e
Hacked according to Maui guide.
Bootmii as iOS
Priiloader
The problem came about one sunny day while i was excitedly installing some new wiiware titles onto my wii as wads using the wad manager through the modmii app. All was good i had installed about 10-15 games and moved them to my sd card and was blissfully going through each game excited at the prospect of having all my old favorite arcade games at my finger tips without a pocketfull of coins to operate. The problem started when i tried this one game and it said something like i didn't have enough room on the system menu to play, so i proceeded to make some more space on the SM.
After doing that I went back and tried the game again, it all seemed to be loading ok then suddenly it stopped and i got a message saying i needed to free up space on the SM, so i guess i hadn't free'd up enough. blah blah blah, ignorantly i thought something was wrong with the wii's memory so decided to run a nand backup, which went ok, but then couldn't get the games working(think indeed to reinstall after nand backup), so stupidly started playing around with ios'es, which is the only thing i can think of that caused my predicament, can't remember which one it was but i noticed there was a newer iOS whilst in modmii so i installed it, i went off to do something, leaving the wii turned on, and the kids started watching tv and later when i returned to the wii flicking it back onto the game mode, disaster, nothing, just the message no input from the tv, the wiimote was not responding (it will start the wii up) and the wii seemed to be frozen, not responding apart from holding down the power button. I tried priiloader, nothing. Any advice, for a nincompoop?

Just restore your nand again.
You need to have bootmii.ini, armboot.bin and ppcboot.elf on your sdcard to load bootmii

I never said anything about priiloader have you even tried booting directly into bootmii?
You just f u your system menu. priiloader is tied to it while bootmii would probably be still there.

Ok, forgive my ignorance, just trying now.
Just read this: "Priiloader will be the only option of restoring a backup if all you have is bootmii as an ios.
It's the only program that will let you boot into bootmii as ios except for the HBC and if your wii is bricked the only way your going to get into bootmii as ios or hbc is by having priiloader installed."

I would say to send me the wii because I have an unbricking service, but I doubt that you would want to ship it overseas.
Yeah, i just hate to see it bricked, i've i always managed fix problems that i've encountered, so its more of a determination thing. I can pick up another one very cheap, a lot of people are practically giving them away here now, i suppose to upgrade to the wiiu. Thanks anyway. In saying that you still think it can be fixed?

Yes, as long as you have a nand backup. I remove the nand chip from the wii's motherboard and use an external programmer to write the dump back to the nand. I've been doing it as a service on here for over 3 years now.

Sounds like the go. Just got myself another Wii today for a pretty sweet deal, i'll hang on to the old one. I think i made the mistake of updating ios60, just read this DOH, : "WARNING: This is System Menu v4.1, running on a version patched cIOS60. For those of you who like to go cowboying with your Wii and mess with your IOS, NEVER replace cios60-v54321 with ios60-6400. Doing so will brick your Wii. Don't MUCK up cios60-v54321. You have been warned.

Yup, thats likely what did it.

If you ever want to just 'donate' the wii, I can pay for the shipping, repair it and give it to a family that is not as fortunate. I actually have the perfect family in mind that has a child with autism and could greatly benefit from having a wii.

Still got the Wii if you're interested..

This is all the way back from 2013. But I will give it a shot.

So it sounds like you put your downloaded games on your SD Card, and they do not work becuase of a missing WAD?

I would recommend just completely moving the game folders to a new SD card on a new Wii. But if you want to get your hands dirty on some research go ahead and proceed.

If you have Priiloader Installed with BootMii installed as an IOS you will have to uninstall Priiloader by holding the Reset button, go to settings, and select uninstall. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A POWER SOURCE THAT LASTS ATLEAST 10 - 20 SECONDS.

Once you done that you will have to go into Multi Mod Manager and install an IOS on the Wii. The IOS File I am not aware of which IOS to update... So do not uninstall/update any IOS's on your system.

What error do the games give you when you try playing them?

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
