Theres lots of topics out there like this, but i cant seem to put all the pieces together. Here the lowdown.

PHAT psp
Firmware: 3.03
Hardmoded Pandora battery
normal battery
and im working on getting a magic memory stick.

the firmware was 3.03.

now that i know what the custom firmware is, should i try to recover it, or just downgrade to 1.50? i new to the psp scene. im mostly a ds user

Bring the firmware up to 3.90 M33 or 4.01 M33. There's no need for downgrading to 1.5 anymore because the CFW's are basically the latest + workings of 1.5

Just use your Pandora battery and a 'magic memory stick', that'll recover it even if it's bricked.

CFW is Custom Firmware -- Doesn't just apply to PSP, so you're just a n00b.
