I'm all for Nintendo moving main stream, but this, this is putrid. I know that the game finished development just last week and it went 'gold', but personally, I'm one of those people who STRONGLY believes that the game has been finished since 2016, if not end of the year of 2015. (2014 Proof) BUT since they wanted a Zelda for the Switch, the held on to the game instead of releasing it on the WiiU. (but that's just my opinion)

I'm sure any other Zelda fan may agree with me on this but one of the main thing's I've always enjoyed about playing a Zelda game is that it was always complete, no gimmicks. It's honestly one of the main reasons I tend to stay away from games like Fallout4, I wait till all the DLC was out to buy and play it. That way I can enjoy the entirety of the game during my first play through. I'm honestly just downright disappointed that the 'new hard mode' isn't part of the game, because unless I'm wrong, this is the first game to EVER do this. It's not the having to pay extra for a game like Zelda that upsets me, but actual wait. For the hardcore completionist fans who want to play the whole game with all the trials and dungeons, we have to wait till the end of the year?!? For a game like LoZ, this is like buying a jigsaw puzzle picture without all the pieces, and they waited till AFTER everyone preordered the Switch along with the game to mention this??!? This is utterly putrid.

I wonder if you'll be able to get the DLC without opting in for the new online paid feature, I'm sure we'll find out right before they release the BotW DLC. Not to worry though, next year the Switch Pro will come bundled with Zelda Breath of the Wild HD.

It's like the second time? The first time was OoT Master Quest, I think.
Not DLC, but they wanted more money for a remixed (and harder) version of the same adventure.

You're probably right about that development theory. Nintendo played the entire prologue at E3 2016 on Wii U and I didn't notice any bugs.

You could cancel your preorder. I'd go ahead and do so. Your deposit for a preorder, if you made one, should be refundable. I'm of the opinion that, if they really wanted your money, they would give away Zelda for free, in a console bundle. I think they will do this Holiday 2017.

Again though it's not even about the money, as much as the wait, with this news my hype has been demolished especially after waiting for so long.

Judging from their past DLC with Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros they never withheld content, it was always extra. Without DLC Mario Kart 8 had the usual 8 cups with 32 tracks and Super Smash Bros still had its big lineup of different character and stages.

I trust it'll still be the same for BotW, as for the release date it makes sense from a business standpoint. Despite being the newest Zelda it wouldn't be able to save the Wii U from its abyssmal sales, so releasing it for the Switch as a "Day 1" release would entice more Zelda fans to buy the Switch if they didn't already buy a Wii U. Sure the extra waiting time would be undesirable for fans if the game was completed in 2016, but in my opinion there'll be few who decide not to buy BotW purely due to extended release date. Its a shame though we'll have to wait till the end of the year if someone wanted the "full" experience of the game+DLC

    I found this particularly funny.

Then why even called it a [season] expansion pass??

Remember when DLC was announced for a game AFTER it was released? lol what're they trying to beat reviews?

Master Quest was free preorder bonus for Wind Waker, and was in OoT 3D for no extra charge so I don't think it's really the same thing.

People pay $60+ for map packs in online multiplayer games, but $20 is too much for two non-mandatory DLC packs. You wot m8?

Man, you must have hated having to buy both Oracle games for the full package.

Well, you know. Back in the day when I got Ages, a friend of mine got Seasons.
Each of us played one, and then we shared.
Perhaps I should tell my friend to get the DLC and I get the main BotW game?
But I don't think that will work so well... How will he play the DLC without the main game?

PS: Oracles is not a good example to compare with.
PS2: To think I was about 18 back then... Hell times go by... (feeling old today)

Welcome to 2017, as this been the standard for a few years with developers and I'm not a fan of DLC, as I have been gaming since the 1980's. Sadly, this is how the market is now and it's a money trap, as they know at the end of the day people will buy DLC. I like complete games too, which is why I held off the latest "Hitman" due to the episodic missions.

Like I mentioned in another thread, every game now is ruined by DLC and Paywalls and you don't get a title for an average RRP of £49.99 and instead, have to pay up to a £100 in some instances, to get the full package.

Did any of you actually read, or did you just come in here to fan boy about Nintendo?

Also who the hell announces DLC BEFORE the release of the the base game? No matter how you look at it, it's looney a business move.

Jesus Christ you're all a bunch of whiners. I don't get what all of this hate surrounding Nintendo is. So they are releasing optional dlc at an affordable price? How is this bad? Call of duty, a yearly title I'm sure a number of you play, costs upwards of 120$ for the "full game". Almost every title recently has some form of dlc, including indie games now. I don't understand why Nintendo is being bashed so hard when all they're doing is a far more fair and basic IMO version of what $ony and Micro$oft do.

I don't read nonsensical whining for more than a few sentences. It's a 40+ hour complete game without DLC. If you don't think the DLC is worth its price, don't buy it. There will naturally be reviews for both the game itself and the DLC. Welcome to modern gaming.

@Roxe__ Hyrule warriors isn't a Legend of zelda game? (Which has dlc) :ninja:

I understand what you are saying. But who knows, maybe it doesn't have to be bought with money, it could be a way to unlock it as achievement requirement. Some games do have unlocking requirements that can allow for getting somethings you would by dlc payment. But we don't know yet. Until someone plays all of the game (including the endings) then we just won't know? You know most dlc are part of the game and just are paid to actually access them instead of just getting them in some update you must download to obtain. So is just speculation at this time. There is a difference in how people handle dlc, as actually downloading data to add to the complete game or paying to unlock something that was part of the game to begin with.:)

    — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! —

Oracle of ages/seaons is basically the equal of Fire emblem fates, Birthright/conquest/revelation.

To be honest there was supposed to be a third oracles game but never made the day of light. (I assume one based on each of the 3 deities of the series, Naryu, Din, Farore) But yeah, same equal, release 3 different games as part of one. At that time, it seem like something of a pokemon based move/stunt, and even capcom done this with Mega man battle network seies and starforce. Well the games were awesome and fun, but i think they focused a bit more on multiplayer with those kinds of directions of game specific additions. But i wish they had just made some definitve game to begin with. Pokemon yellow is the define game of first gen red/blue/grean, crystal is define of gold and silver, emerald is define of sapphie and ruby.

I wish people just did that in the first place, i don't mind adding dlc as optional content. But then is like we won't even know how long we must wait for the "complete game" No definite 4-7 gen pokemon game, and is not the only series is been like this.

We're whiners because we don't like that there's already $20 of DLC announced for a game that is 3 weeks away from release?
And Call of Duty is trash. The only reason people don't whine about CoD is because their users are already pretty well defined and they simply don't care because they're used to being pickpocketed by Activision. They're junkies who need their fix of digital garbage. Everyone else looks away and says "man, am I glad to not play this turd of a game."
Maybe they wouldn't be bashed if they didn't do stupid crap like artificial avalaibility, price gouging on VC titles, never lowering their game's prices, the Switch's controller and accessory pricing and now pre-launch DLC announcements.
If they were clever they would have announced this 5 months into launch and no one would have cared. Now how can we be sure they didn't cut content to sell it as DLC?
