from what I understand preloader can brick your wii if you format it and since mine corrupts sometimes i HAVE to format it so I can't have preloader.
bootmii isn't affected by bricks, at all, well safe for one apparently but that's too hard to do so it's basically 100% brick proof.

that's probably all the systems settings like the NAND backup function, maybe some new tools to mess around with what you have on your wii and probably the bootmii settings like layout, skins and crap like that.
