I was wondering if anyone on this fantastic forum would be able to help me. I've been using gateway with EMUnand on my N3ds for about a year now. I was getting tired of not being able to play DS or DSiware so someone pointed me to this guide:

https://3ds.guide

Everything went smoothly, got my EMUnand moved and everything is still there but neither of my gateway cards works. The guide CLAIMS it's compatible with all cards but i don't know how to use the red card without EMUnand. The blue card doesn't work, either, even after following this guide:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/gateway-blue-card-on-luma3ds-a9lh.439605/

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The Gateway card is only useable in Gateway mode. When they talk about all cards being useable they mean DS flashcarts only. If you want to use your Gateway card you'll have to create an emuNAND then find a way to downgrade it to 11.2 then follow this https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-gateway-on-b9s.431691/

Whoever told you to install b9s should have told you to export your save files first using https://gbatemp.net/threads/importing-gateway-saves-to-cia-games.425743/ (you'll need access to Gateway mode to follow this). Once you extract your save files you'll be best off getting rid of the Gateway card as it only causes problems.

This still doesn't explain why the blue card isn't working. I keep getting "Can't open_dsmenu.dat".

If I downgrade the firmware to 11.2 will it erase my boostrap/luma mods? Thanks for the reply

Is the file on the blue card MicroSD?

You're only downgrading emuNAND, B9S is installed to sysNAND.
By the way, make sure you never boot GW in sysNAND mode, it will wipe B9S on 11.3+.

Gonna hop on this thread as like OP, I finally had time to follow the 3ds.guide and get Luma/B9S/GM9 installed, however while I was backing up my SD card it corrupted and I lost the data (got emuNAND backed up via emuTool, but the files in the Nintendo folder were lost).

After cutting my losses I finished up the config, but I would still like to have an emuNAND to use my GW card. My sysNAND is still on 9.0.0 until I can properly make an emuNAND for GW usage. I'm searching around but can't find a way to make one - I see emuanand9 was useful but that was in A9LH days and doesn't seem to be useful in B9S or GM9. Anything I can do there?

I also followed the guide here which does work, but it won't let me create a GW emuNAND from the menu, only boot into GW mode. Also, this could be what OP needs as long as he hasn't updated past 11.2.

Yes, the file is on the blue card micro sd.
I can't downgrade EMUnand because I don't have it anymore, I copied all of my EMUnand stuff to sysnand with luma/bs9.
I guess I can't make a new EMUnand anyway because my luma/bs9 sysnand is on 11.6 now.

Well so u want to use GW on FW11.6 and Luma9, first you will need to downgrade your emunand... to do this find a CTRNAND 9.2(ctrnand is like a clean indenty nand) for your 3ds or n3ds region, flash it with GODMODE9 to your EMUNAND, now you have a 9.2 emunand and you can use GW.
for online mode you will need update it, but if you do that you lose GW again, so you have 2 Choices:
Proxy your 3ds version with:
https://github.com/yellows8/ctr-httpwn
or a frankenand:

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
