What exactly is boot.nds for on the 3DS?
boot.firm is the payload that B9S/FB3DS autoboots, boot.3dsx is for loading the homebrew launcher, but what is boot.nds for?

DSi mode homebrew boot file, just like the regular DSi uses. However, on 3ds it's usually used to overwrite the 3ds's firmware and install boot9strap ((3ds mode homebrew) using a flaw called "known-plaintext-attack".
